Bought a farm pro of of Homier, Bad mistake but got to deal with it now. After 3 months vavle stuck in head, they said it just needed polished. I disputed that but they so called fixed it under warrenty. Guess what? Vavle is sticking again 1 year later. Nobody there wants to hear my problem. Took valve cover off and check to see if it is oiling. There is some oil there but not enough for my likeing. I check under rocker assembly no clogs in orfice. Please help me. I bought a new tractor and don't really have nothing.

I've only been reading the posts here for a short time, but a sticking valve is very unusal in any engine. A lack of top end oil could cause such a problem or part machined out of tolerance. How many hours on the engine? If it is a plugged oil supply port and you have some hours on it then there is probably considerable damage to more then just one valve. My tractor came with enough parts to do one cylinder, one vavle each, one set of springs. I guess my advice would be to do a valve job on it and make sure that the oil lines are not blocked before running it again.

I'm not for or against any dealer, but your valve problem would be considered an on-going or pre-existing problem that was not fixed correctly the first time. In other words, they cheated. I'd say you have a legitimate complaint.

We have sold alot of these tractors and never had any valves stick???This may be a bad valve or a bent valve,
If it's due to no oil there may be a problem with the oil pump
To fix it correctly I would pull the head and take it to a machine shop for a valve job,The combustion chamber is small on a diesel engine and if the valve sticks open it could knock a hole in a piston. This is not the norm for these engines
not saying that are not a few bad apples.Removing the head is not a big deal only a few hours work, hopefully a valve job will get the problem taken care of once and for all.If we can help you with anything let us know, also BlueChip is also a FarmPro dealer and he may be able to at least help you get some replacement parts.

Hi Joe..There is a couple things you can easily check. First of course oil flow. if you remove the rocker shaft assy. you will find a hole in the head where the oil travels up into one of the supports for the rocker shaft..If they are out of order or not drilled correctly (how could that happen????)it will stop the flow or if something is partially blocking them.(piece if "o" ring etc). Oil then flows into rocker shaft and out rocker arm. some of this oil is supposed to get onto the valve stems and get mostly wiped off at the seal. We know the valves can be open some without hurting anything as when using the "decompression" lever it holds open the intake valves.
Another question? is it actually the a valve sticking? or could the rocker arm be frozen to the rocker shaft by lack of oil.
Sounds like it would be fun to look for the cause.wish I was closer to you. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Reminds me, loose adjuster on the decompression lifters?

This happen when its cold out usually 0 degrees. Go to start up tractor and it breaks off adjuster nuts on only exhaust side, vavle will not push down so I sprayed penetrating oil on vavle and get them all working put it back together so I can move it , runs fine. I am a car mechanic for chevrolet so I check the things I know. I have check oiling to rockershaft and there is some not like a 390 ford. The oil pressure is alway in the middle of the gauge. I will take head off and get valve guide clearances checked. Thanks for any information and any more I can get. This forum has helped more than the dealer has.

What do you mean by
"Go to start up tractor and it breaks off adjuster nuts on only exhaust side, vavle will not push down so I sprayed penetrating oil on vavle and get them all working put it back together so I can move it , runs fine."
???????Breaks off adjuster nuts?????????

Seems strange that the problem would get worse with time, most things wear looser not tighter. I would think the pushrods would bend before breaking nuts, and I also cant imagine that penetrating oil would make that much of a difference unless they are sitting a long time and getting some electrolosys or corrosion locking the valve to the guide?

sounds like you have a gaulled valve guide, or slightly bent valve.
I doubt it has anything to do with lack of oil since the valve seals keep the oil off the valve for the most part anyway.
Remove the head and check the valve for bent, and do a guide fit measurement to check to make sure you have enough clearence.

The first time it did it it was cylinder 3 exhaust valve, did not bend pushrod but broke adjusting shank off. The top of retainer look blue from heat could not get it to move. Dealer took "care of it" this time it is number 2 exhaust valve with a total of 220 hours on new tractor. The valve stayed down this time and jump pushrod out luckly I pulled rocker shaft off today and cranked engine over, oil squirted up about 3 feet in air. I assume that is enough oil???? I will pull head off next free hour. Thanks everyone I will post what I find. Tractor is a bad word around my wife.
