So it is not the same valve twice, (that was bugging me i guess). Be sure to check the springs, they will sometimes fatigue/break which could delay valve closure enough for the push rod to come out. There have been several reports of push rod displacement on this engine. It is important to adjust valve lash regularly.

I feel for you there. I had a similar circumstance with my wife years ago except the bad word was "backhoe" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif...Scozz

I'm curious. Would you mind providing specific details as to how you concluded it was exhaust valves affected - as opposed to intake valves?

Greg the first time it happened I could not push exhaust vavle down with my hands. I know they push gown hard but not like this. Second time it happened tore it apart, the vavle was already down 1/2 inch, a different exhaust valve, bumb it with a rubber mallet and it pop up. Push it down with my hand again and it stuck there. Took head off today, will send it out. Did not see anything visually.

The question was; how did you arrive at the conclusion your problem was with two consecutive exhaust valves - as opposed to intake valves ?

I ask this, because we've had extensive discussions in the past about the valve sequence in the Y380/Y385 motors. I know yours is a Y395 motor, but I'm pretty sure it's still a YangDong. Nobody I've communicated with to this point has actually pulled a cylinder head, so I'm still without conclusive evidence whether valve #1 (closest to the radiator) is intake or exhaust.

The answer may be relative to a problem with the compression release linkage.

Hi Greg,
on teh Ty395, it is pretty easy to tell which are intake and which are exhaust, they line up pretty well with the manifolds and they are spaced pretty far apart.

Thanks Chip. Didn't realize the FP2430 used a Jiangsu Jianghuai engine, assuming (incorrectly) that they had one from YangDong - like it's smaller stablemates.

I've seen the decompression linkages on the Yangdong Y80/Y85 and on the FeiDong 395/495, but never one on a Jiangsu Jianghuai TY395. I thought perhaps I could visualize some relationship between the FP2430 linkage contact points and the problematic valves. But since I've never seen a TY395, I guess that dog won't hunt.

Got some new information about the head in machine shop. They tore it apart, every valve guide and vavle worn out. So I went down took a look myself, Lotssss of clearance. They said the only thing they can think is sugar in tank, which i have had that screen plug up on me several times. Really hard to believe valve would stick with that much clearance. I ask if sugar could make it through all those filters. They said "why sure". There is a possibilty there could have been sugar in tank. What do you fellows think about this? When I put it back together, I would hope it would be the last time.

I would have expected carbon and shellac to be telltale signs of sugar vandalism. Or had they already cleaned the head/valves/injectors/fuel system - by the time you got there?

How do cylinders, piston tops look? If all the guides and valves are really worn out, than there must be something very abrasive at work. You did change the oil and filter before 50 hours I hope. That engine is not very forgiving of being run too long on the factory oil. I agree that guide clearance would make it hard for valve to stick open, but sugar could glue it closed I supppose. Also make sure rocker shaft and rocker arms are in good shape.
