I think the days are coming where there will no longer be keys for a new vehicle. Just a fob to get in the doors and you push a button to start the car. The fob tells the vehicle it is OK to start. Some cars have it now.

That's the way our 2017 Ford Escape works. Of course, the driver's door does have a key slot that I had never used until just now.:laughing: You see, the fob actually contains a key, but if you didn't know it, you might have a hard time finding it. And there's a combination pad in the driver's door also, so you can unlock the car without the fob. Now if there's a way to start the engine without one of the fobs nearby, I wouldn't know it.

I have fond memories of having to find a hill to park on so I could start the car... God help you if you stalled the car on flat ground!![]()
