I would never lease, but then again i own my cars outright so i never have payments.

I never understood people that traded cars every 3 years... till i figured out if your going to have a forever $350 a month payment, might as well drive a brand new car all the time.

so if your always going to have a payment (be realistic, if you've had a car payment for the past 10 years, with no time when you didnt, youll continue to have one forever) then might as well transtion to lease, and save money (per month)

course my best advise is buy the car outright and save all the money per month but most people dont live the "cash" life.

My wife and I both love leasing. I would recommend it to anyone if you enjoy having a new basically maintenance free vehicle every 2 or 3 years. All you'll have to do is add gas and do a few oil changes. That's it! I found in the past that when I would finally pay of my vehicle loan, my vehicle was a piece of junk and I would be trading it in for something new again. I also enjoy the lower lease payments. I'm currently driving my 4th F-150 truck and was able to step up into a nicer style truck because of low lease payments. After this lease, I may decide I want to drive an SUV for awhile so I'll lease one of those. I think you'll really enjoy it. Just make sure if you decide to lease, to not go over your allowed miles as it can get expensive if you do. On the other hand, if you turn it in with miles left, sometimes you can get money back.

Good luck!

Every lease I have had were better than buying in that if you added all the payments and the buyout it was about 10% cheaper than just buying. This all comes down to leasing the right vehicle's with high residual value.

Many times its cheaper to get a fully loaded one with a high residual versus a stripped model. Same thing is true when it comes to upgrading. I got a fully loaded FX4 F150 lariate cheaper then what my co worker was driving a Dakota for.

I don't think any economist would say leasing is a smart money move.

Any economist worth his/her salt would say: "It depends on the present values of the cash flows associated with buying versus leasing."

Warning: Shameless Self-Promotion Ahead;)

I recently leased a new Chevy truck. We had a 05 Tahoe, but I was tired of the repair bills. I knew the Tahoe needed new tires - at least 1K, plus some front end work - new shocks, control arms, maybe 1.5K, plus the A/C needed to be repaired, maybe another $500. I looked into leasing, we need a truck for getting hay, feed, and the HD runs. Not every day work. Keeping the Tahoe would cost about the same as a lease payment for a year. It isn't for everybody, but it can work for some folks. Btw, my wife uses it for her biz, so much of the cost is written off.

Never leased. but I've heard that turning in a lease is a nightmare. The old saying goes, the dealer never looses money.

Never had a single issue. It was always a pleasurable experience.

Now dealing with a trade in can be a nightmare. I usually end up selling to a private party.

I've never had any problem with that. My dealer is always happy when I'm leasing another vehicle from them so I've never been charged for anything. I've turned my vehicle in with some obvious bumps and bruises too. One truck had a huge scratch on it I obtained from an off road trail. I fully expected to pay for that one but he said nothing about it. Probably depends a lot on your dealer though too. You can always tough it up a little yourself before turn in.
