Vicon haybob

Hi guys
I just seen a Vicon RC330 come up for sale a couple miles down the road. It isn't in to bad shape. Has some rust on the headstock but not too much, and the gates on the back are missing. What do you think of them as a tedder/rake for use on between 40-60 acres of hay. Ideally would be used much for raking and would be used mostly for fluffing the hay as i already have a wheel rake for raking.

I had a Vicon 300 back in the mid 1980's. It was an OK machine I guess, but I wouldn't buy another one. It was a pain to change from rake mode to tedder mode. Mine had skid plates under the baskets that wore out quickly until I welded old disc blades on the bottom. From the picture I can't tell if that machine has skids or not. If all you really need is a tedder, I would look for a 4 basket machine dedicated for that task.

not sure, think its on skids. would they really wear out very quickly if only doing 40 acres a year? i see your point about a tedder, but i just think it would be handy to have the option to row up with it if it needs doing quickly so we can use 2 tractors at a time
