Vines tangled up in tiller

The idea is to prevent the weeds from wrapping up and damaging the seals.

I have plenty of tools to cut them out.

LoL... A futile endeavor...unless you use some type of attachment that cuts the vines etc. prior to tilling with a spinning tiller...

My Howard and Baltic tillers have sloped/tapered tines and claim to be self cleaning. The ones at RK and TSC tiller tines that I have seen are straight. Also wondered how they compared??
No problem wrapping up with gardens. Field or woods very little trouble.

The guards won’t help filling the tines if you have a lot of vines, but they should keep the accumulation along the seals to a minimum.

None of my Howards wrap like that, it's just another reason to get a higher quality tiller...

The most relevant factor is WHAT is being tilled and NOT the tiller (or tines etc.) itself...

In my line of work, I don't know what I'm tilling until I get there, and I rarely turn a job down!

SO, having tillers that will work, in what ever job comes along, is is a good thing!

I had a Troy Bilt Horse when we had a garden. It took three years and many passes before I "found" all the old barbed wire. It would wrap up nicely on the tines.
