Unfortunately memory care giving is like house arrest so cabin fever might be more appropriate...

Two days a week Mom has been going to the senior center but that option no longer exists for now...

Glad to hear it James. You are my Barometer to know when Spring's coming. No blooming up here. Trees are barely showing signs of life. I fertilized my new yard a week ago. It's wanting to wake up.

Have you saw any Purple Martins down there yet?

We never see any here,, We are too wooded. They like more open country to catch flying insects in.

I was mostly thinking as a sports fan as per the topic...mainly golf...not much of a b-ball fan but I know there is a huge amount of disappointed fans and I feel sorry for the student athletes that are not going to get their deserved chances at something special...

There are going to be new gaps in the record books that to date have only been associated with world wars...

With no sports to watch...I will make two (TIC) predictions...with no sports to watch we will either see more spousal abuse reports...and or there will be a new baby boom starting in a year or so...?

You guys are giving me hope!!! Seems like we've been at this a long time. Four and a half months since our first snow..... Snowed most of the day today but the ground was too warm for it to stay.

I have been outside for a week because of the warm weather. Today I spread mulch on blueberry bushes, more to do tomorrow. Two weeks ago I went on Amazon and bought spaghetti, sauce, PB&J, tuna, and other dry goods. My wife went to the grocery today and she said many empty shelves including produce. It’s coming. We are retired and live in the country. I can see busy families with school kids are gonna experience it a bit harder. Good luck to everybody. Oh, our one daily trip is to the gym in midday, they seem to be aware of safeguards.

Just curious...is the latter (highlight) also a social thing?...personally if it's warm enough to be outside I can always find stuff to do that exercises my body more than any gym session can...??

My wife has gone to the gym for years; I normally took the approach that if I’m outside I am getting exercise. I started going with her since January and I use the treadmill for 45 minutes. It has helped me a lot in terms of sleeping better, even breathing better. I needed the cardio workout more than weight lifting. We are clearly not shut ins as we travel as we please but we are watching this closely. I do think stores run out because people panic so in that respect we are all caught up in it.

I hear you. My mother-in-law just got help from hospice and the VA with her husband, who has dementia, about a month ago. It's been good for her that they come in and help bathe him, or just sit with him so she can go out for a few hours. Now she can't go out because of the virus, and they might have to cut back on their visits.

Today was the funeral for a beloved hospital colleague with 40 years on the job... we worked together 29 years and many years with Mom... she was still working at age 68 when cancer struck.

I decided Mom and I would not attend and have already received several calls asking why we did not attend... one from the family in years saying how close the deceased and Mom were.

Most of the medical staff including Docs present and retired and many retirees from years ago packed the service on this rainy day... just as I imagined... it was overflowing.

I feel bad but a large gathering in very close proximity and mom being 86 and it would have been endless hugs and embraces and Mom is oblivious to the virus... but she had asked several times to remind her when the services start.

I'm sure you've read my horror story regarding norovirus at my father's funeral. You did the right thing for your mom. :thumbsup:

That whole incident really opened my eyes as to how fast something like that can sweep through a group of people. It was just a matter of hours. Almost instant, when compared to the way this coronavirus can sit for days and days before symptoms show up, if they show up at all.

On that note, many years ago my in-laws were on a cruise along Alaska. Several hundred people got norovirus. My mother-in-law had to spend a few days in the ship's infirmary. My father-in-law didn't get it.

Anyhow, as to what we're doing to wait it out, not much. My job put us on some restrictions... we can't work in pairs, we all had to move out of our central workshop and set up individual work stations (drill chargers, walkei talkie chargers, iPad chargers, mini-fridge, etc...) in separate buildings. Have to try to keep 6' distance from each other and contractors if we have to do a joint job. Unnecessary maintenance has to be postponed. My wife's work is trying to get laptops for as many of their office workers as possible. The ones that they can't get them for have to come in, but they're spacing them out to put empty cubicles between them.

I canned 25# of dry white rice yesterday evening. Was planning on doing that anyway. Made 6 jars of corn relish today.

We're planning on putting a 24x24 addition onto the back of our garage this summer, so I hurried up and drew up site plan to scale, gathered all the info needed, and stopped by the county building department yesterday at lunch to get the permit. I was worried they'd close/curtail county government office hours in the near future, so I got that done so we can start in April hopefully.

I really have not changed my routine, maybe I'm bit more diligent in washing my hands and not touching things that 1,000 other people have... but I have always been somewhat of a germafobe. People as a whole are a filthy thing..we work in large buildings and in the city all the time. ..They are all filthy,disgusting, germ infested breeding grounds. ....the state owned ones are the worst. It's nice that the traffic in and out of the city is down so much. Makes my normal 40 mile 2.5 hr commute about 1hr now.

Nice no traffic if you get pulled over for speeding just start sneezing as the cops walks up to your car....

We told our kids that if schools shut down (they all will) they can send the kids to us and we’ll keep them her in the country for the duration. That way no worries of crowds and they can go about their work as cop and nurse.

I'm on a job where I'm the only person in the house, and I'll be there another 4 weeks, so I'll have very little contact with people. Kind of how I like it!!! So I don't really care about the virus anymore then I care about the flu or the common cold.

Spring started a few weeks ago and temps are getting into the 70's again with a few days that have already been in the 80's. I started spraying round up along my fence last week and got the lawn mower going yesterday. It sure looks nice after mowing!!!!! Today I'm going to see if I can get the small tractor running and start bush hogging my trails and fence lines. This time of the year, East Texas is very nice!!!!
