I should clarify that I have never injected myself with the epipen but now I have one in my truck just in case of a huge event. I also have a gun in the truck, and tools, a cell phone, etc. Working alone with a brushhog at a remote site leads you to be prepared for extraordinary events.

I put a 4020 in the creek once due to ground wasps (yuellow jackets). I got 6 welts before I bailed out and tractor went swimming.. Maybe I'll put fence 2nd on the list. Thanks for jump starting my memory.

A lot of good stories on here. Glad we don't have wasps living in the ground in my neighborhood! When I first bought my farm about half of it was pasture with no animals and the grass was waist high. I started mowing with my Allis D17 and Woods 5 ft pull behind brush cutter. Hit posts, barbwire, cinder blocks, left over concrete blocks from the silo, steel fence posts, steam engine flues, well rods, parts of old implements and about every other piece of farm junk you can imagine. After ten years, I have it cleaned up to the point where I rarely ever hit anything anymore. I use a finish mower on nearly all of it these days.

Ground Bees have chased me after brush hogging a neighbors abandoned field.
Rocks that get broken up like they are brush going into a chipper.
Glad we have very few snakes, bed springs, hidden bikes or groundhogs at our place. Great stories!

I notice that that Woods brush cutter isn't in your equipment list anymore. It must've taken a real beating. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I had a blade to come off the other day. It went about 50 feet and stuck in the ground about 4 inches. I did not know what was going on. It like to have turn my little Tractor over. The back tires was coming off the ground about 6 inches on one side then the other.

About 5 years ago, my dad (who was 80 years old) was mowing and my mother was doing some yard work. All at once, mom yelled at dad "Kill that snake!!!". Well, dad couldn't hear very well, and turned and yelled back "What???" This exchange of words happened a couple more times, until a terrible noise came from the mower. At this point, mom said "Never mind..." We found chunks of a timber rattler that were as big in diameter as my arm scattered all over the place.
