WAKE UP!

   / WAKE UP! #41
I woudl have to say one of th eloudest things I have ever hit was a tire, only because it just bounces around the deck and causes the blades to swing all out of whack causing the hog to bounce one way while the front ot the tractor bounces the other way and back and forth till you get teh mower lifted up and shut off.
Then there are the gazillion stumps or tree limbs I have hit.
Big rocks, then the bigger rocks.
The concrete ditch checks (help to stop severe wash outs) are a PITA when you hit one of those, and then three more before the end of the day.
Steel T-posts.

The quietest thing I ever hit that caused some damage was hitting a pile of telephone wire in which a piece formed around the bushhog blade, flew out and lodged in the back of my arm. I heard the mower hitting something and just thought it was sticks, then looked back and saw a bunch of wire, I had felt something hit my arm a mere second before but thought nothing of it till 10 minutes later I look down and my entire right arm is blood red, the tractor fender is covered in blood, the platfrom has blood ponds and so on. Went to the e-room to have it removed, it looked like a 3/4" wide by 1" long staple.

All of this was in the one summer I worked for the county highway department on the mowing crew. Mowin grass waist-chest high on roadsides (regardless of if you've been on them before or not) is asking for trouble no matter how careful or slow you go.

Now with my own equipment, tree limbs, rocks, scalp the ground when bottomed out in a ditch, a concrete block a few times, snakes, snakes, and more snakes

I don't own a brush hog, but mowing hayfields especially on first cut, I always find a few fawns and rabbits. I won't elaborate. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ok, back to the copper heads. I hate snakes. I think if I get hit in the back with a copper head I will give it the tractor /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. At least for a while.
