You know, I didn't really know much about it. Here's more than you wanted to know - Agave nectar - Wikipedia

We started out getting two-packs at Costco of a light amber agave - Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Blue Agave Nectar, 36 oz, 2 ct Looks like the same brand as Big Barn uses. I use a few drops in my coffee too along with one sweet-n-low. My web page shows it as being $12 for two 36oz. bottles.

Now, speaking of Costco, did you know that their Kirkland Signature Anejo Tequila is one of the best that money can buy?

We now return you to MEAT.....

Thanks JR. yeah I buy the Kirkland brand anejo tequila. It is best for the price! Their reposado is great for making Cadillac Margaritas... add a splash of grand marnier to top it off and relax on a hot summer evening.

Fireman, did you know that plain old tulip poplar is very similar to alder for smoking purposes? Makes it a lot easier for us in the southeast where alder is unobtainium.

And next time you enjoy an anejo, try stirring in just a tiny bit (like 1/8 tsp per oz.) of blue agave. Heaven!

I'll give it a try. I've got a couple of bottles of syrup in the pantry that I stopped using. I'm usually a traditionalist with my tequila, just lime and salt, or mostly nothing at all just to sip.

In China, the local, and I do mean local, restaurants have the "meat" still alive in cages at the front of the place. You want a duck. There is the duck. It is still quacking. :laughing::laughing::laughing: One place we ate at one night for dinner and everyday for lunch had a stack of cages with rabbit, chicken and ducks. I heard that they used to have dogs and cat but they no longer show them on the street to avoid ticking off Westerners. I suppose they just moved the dogs and cats to the back of the restaurant. :laughing::laughing::laughing:

The meat you ate was FRESH! Much fresher than in the states.

Dan was in a (BBQ) restaurant and sitting at long table next to ours. was several oil field workers discussing where they had worked and the food they had to order.
One man mentioned came from Aribia location and going to local food eatery placing and order when the food arrived looked like a fried Rat just slapped on the table.
No forks knives or spoons just plate of fried something.
The other men agreed food in U.S. is above average than anywhere else.

As far as the meat goes, I used to have my truck leased on to GreatWide, which delivered Walmart and Sam's fresh and frozen food. The meat you see in Walmart was alive two days ago. I would go to the Tyson cutting plant in Sherman, TX, and wait on the day's work to be ready. I had to have it from there, usually leaving around midnight, to a distribution center by 6 a.m., so it could be on the trucks going out by noon, to be delivered by 10 p.m. that night.

Walmart used the carbon monoxide treatment for a while, but there was so much protest, it quit. It's a pity; even Consumer Reports says it was the best way to insure low spoilage.

Not trying to pick a fight... but someone please explain the math here. I have a Walmart within reasonable driving distance now and I don't see any savings... whether I shop there or not. All I know is there is no service there. And not because I need it as I know what I need/want 99% of the time. I just hate to see the little guys get squeezed because it means it is just that much harder to start something up as a little guy.

You said it yourself. The little guys can't compete on price, although they may very well be influenced by Walmart prices. However, they CAN, very easily, compete on service and specialization. Anyone who says they can't compete with Walmart is overlooking their power to compete in every area but price.

Thanks Steve... I always like data. My head is spinning after a fast reading, but I don't see the $3.5K savings from the report. More like $1000. Am I missing something. Please translate.
