I think, as mentioned by others, that things are just changing and not necessarily for the better.
There was a movie out in the early 80's starring Walter Matthau and Ned Beatty as CIA agents. It was called Hopscotch. Walter Matthau quits the agency and writes a tell all book. It is a comedy.
Someone found a copy and gave it to us this past Christmas. Watched it and enjoyed it thoroughly. No actual killings, no nude scenes and no sex. Ned Beatty's character says the "F" word a dozen times. Imagine my surprise, when I put the movie back in it's case to see it had an "R" rating. Wow. Probably get a PG today. Yet 20 years ago profanity alone resulted in an "R" rating.
