Want a new laptop but do I want Windows 8?

I have always thought if the hackers would spend as much effort in a real business they could become rich.
I wonder if they are just young kids or are they carrying out a grudge from being fired/layed off from a related job?

The hackers that are infecting lots of computers are professionals who make money off the hacks. They sell the use of the infected system to do Denial of Service(DOS) attacks, send out spam, controllers for other infected systems, or launch new attacks. Then there are the government sponsored hacks... An person I used to work with send me email last week. Alas, it was not her. Her machine had been infected, AGAIN, and was sending out spam. She has been infected several times over the years which results in weight loss spam being sent out from her email account. Funny thing is that she does not need to loose weight. :confused3:

Later,
Dan

OK my theory is that people who have a PC enjoy the computer programing challenge, (and that is not a bad thing, it is actually a nice hobby, some even need the skills for work) but people who have a Mac enjoy other things. I used to know what "restore" was, and all the other terminology does sounds vaguely familiar. After 5 years of not using them I don't have a clue what they do or why it is needed? I prefer not to be another old person that sits in front of the computer trying to figure things out. I'm not saying that PC people are bad or boring, it's just not for me- life is too short.

(oh, by the way, Apple, If you need me to do a commercial on my tractor instead of in front of a computer figuring out system restore I am available.)

I think that's such an unrealistic myopoic view of what someone thinks life is across the fence.

I'm mobile over 90% of my internet time. this si spent between many devices. phone, tablet and netbook. OCCASIONALLY a real notebook.. not even a full size laptop.

of my pc time.. ie.. the netbook.. It's transparent. I flip openthe cover, hit the power button and then load up email and open browsing windows which come up to my pre-st home pages of 3 tractor boards, 1 game and 1 outdoorsy type forum, plus a browser window for work :)

It's just a portal for data...

I guess MAC guys think PC guys have to manually key in a bootstrap program or feed cards intot he side of our computers to bootstrap a loader than manually key in a language to then key in an OS. then we manually key in an application and set there and do octal math and binary conversions looking at the screen like it is the matrix.. and that's what we have to deal with onthe computer to use it to check email.. or load a word processing or spreadsheet document. then at the end of that day of grinding, we dump all the memory clean and shut down, and then start over each time it is powered up.

I'm not saying all mac people think this... but by reading this thread.. that's what I'm taking away....

I think those who comment on PC vs. Mac here should have a decent amount of seat time with both OS and done more than just email and web surfing. Otherwise they are just picking and choosing heresay to advance their personal uneducated opinion that does not have much value in my book. Macbook that is... :D

You are correct. I needed no education for that opinion. But I might need classes If I ever go back to PC. I know you PC guys are probably highly educated and I respect that.

I'm old, I guess, but I don't "try" to figure things out. I DO figure things out and all things considered, figuring out how to use Windows is so easy, most eight year olds seem to have no problem. It's a mind-set, if you don't think you can do it, or figure it's too much work or takes too much thinking, then Apple has the products you need, but you'll never convince anyone who truly knows Windows that Apple is the way to go.

Agreed 100%! And I not trying to convince those people who "truly know windows" only let the ones frustrated with windows know that there is an option. - That of course is not you or several of the brightest ones here on TBN who have the time and inquisitive mindset to overcome all obstacles.
