I’ve been looking around on here and see a lot of you guys have built your own 3rd function kits and was wondering if any of you guys have a detailed list with part numbers of what it would take to build a kit for my Kubota L4400.
Thanks

Up here in Canuckland it cost me around $400 to add a third function to my Massey 1742. Dealer quote was a tad expensive. Check out Tractor Mike on you tube, good info there.

Hydraulics was somewhat of a black art when I got my grapple five years ago. I paid the price and had the dealer instal a WR Long 3rd function - electric over hydraulic. I had the bucket removed - the grapple installed & its stayed that way for five years. I see no reason to ever need the bucket again.

It's not a specific parts list for your tractor but hopefully it will give you a pretty good idea of what you need.

I didn't do a 3rd, rather a diverter. Parts list and build is linked in my signature

Most people are probably just building a diverter valve which still works if you don't mind not being able to do all 3 functions at the same time. I have friends that made them. They diverted the flow off of the bucket curl plumbing. You probably won't find specific part #'s. I ordered mine from WR long which is a true 3rd function and your right they aren't cheap, but it's been trouble free and very easy to install if you have even a little mechanical ability.

Hopefully today I'll post my 3rd function build on a MX4800. I just need to take a few more pictures and sit down and write it. Finished yesterday.

Yea, it's hard to get an exact bill of materials because everyone is a little unique.

Weather you go diverter or 3rd....where you mount it makes a difference in hose length. Best to mount first, then use a garden hose, string, etc to get the hose lengths you want.

And some people order valves with npt ports, some with ORB. So that makes a difference in what adapters you buy.

Some people get straight adapters and hoses with 90 degree fittings. Others use 90 degree adapters and hoses with straight fittings.

Some adapt to jic and use jic hoses. Some use not or npsm.

FAR too many variables to list. Get the valve. Mount the valve. Decide what quick couplers you want. Then pick one of the MANY ways to connect the two with hoses and adapters.

When I did mine...I mounted the valve so I could reuse my existing hoses. Limits the number you need to buy

Thanks this helped tremendously . I have a question about the subplate I see there different ones, D03 open center, D03 parallel cc they look the same but which is right. There is a very good video on YouTube calattachments.

The main advantage to the electric control type options are having the third function at your fingertips as you work the loader control.

While we are discussing third function as opposed to diverter valve a TRUE third function would be an extra spool valve. A TRUE third function would be like what comes on a loader with a 4 in 1 bucket. Many of those have the third spool that is operated by twisting the loader handle clockwise or counter clockwise to operate the third function.

Anything else with electric is a form of a diverter valve. To have all three functions at the front would also be dependent on your hydraulics having the capacity to operate three functions at once and then you have to develop the coordination to operate three movements simultaneously. I haven't looked at the WR Long kit specifics beyond it's price so I can't say I know what it does different unless it pulls hydraulics from the power beyond rather than split and existing function.

My selective control valve (SCV) actually came from the factory with an unused spool. I decided it would be easier to build the solenoid selector valve (diverter valve) than to hook that up. It's original intention was to be available for a rear remote and I may use it for that one day. Some selective control valves are stack-able and you can add sections if there is room.

Some have tied into an existing rear remote for a third function. In my opinion that would be a botched up approach that leaves you reaching for a separate control to operate. Might as well not have a third function if you have to take your hand off the loader control to operate it.

The most common diverter valve is the DSV-62-08-12. As LD1 stated all other connections will be machine dependent.

I too mounted my valve where the original input hoses could connect but after that everything you need will be extra.

Hopefully someone with your exact or similar model will have developed a solution and list their fittings and all to save you some hassle. That is what I did in the thread I posted to my setup. It may help someone with a tractor like mine some day.

No clue. The D03 plate is just a way to get from the valve ports to the hoses. Sometimes I don't think vendors accurately describe the parts they sell. You do need an Open (tandem) valve though.

I guess the way I did mine is a diverter. The valve is on the rear hydraulic control. Have lines leading to the front of the fel. Not as convenient as a switch on the stick, but very workable. Use it for angle blade and blower chute direcrion.
