Warmest Boots, which are best?

I have the STC Crestons. Best boot I have ever worn. In fact I bought two pairs at once last time. They have been to the North Pole twice.... so I would say they're pretty darn warm. :thumbsup:

There is a problem though. On their website, they claim to be 100% Canadian made and owned. However, the tongue tag clearly says made in China....

The Canadian content rule states that as long as 50% of the retail price is Canadian then it is rated 'Canadian'.
The profits taken at all levels of distribution usually exceed the 50.
Buy the raw finished product offshore, add a local package, local instruction sheet parts list etc and all the margins of markups at different levels of distribution and voila: you product is Canadian!
Oh, and if you pay the shipping, that's also cdn. content.

I like the "mickey mouse" army artic type boots.

For general just cold days of riding, my sorels do good. but if I know it might get cold outside and I will go out riding for 4 days, you cant beat the bunny boots. Even if your feet get wet, they will stay warm. If you look at all the trappers and hunters that live out in the bush, 90% wear these boots. They just work.

I have the general Arctic sport muck boots for chores and deep snow. I have a pair of felt packs with a pair of yak trax on them for when it's a luge run down to the barn or on the road. I keep a pair of felt packs in each vehicle for general winter driving in case of emergency. My town boots are Olaug's, nice suede boots with the bonus feature of flip out ice picks on the bottom. Vital when going to work and getting there before the sand truck or when visiting my sister with the 45 degree incline on her icy and unsanded driveway.
I have a pair of clogs I wear when plowing snow...

In January the temperature plunged here in Quebec (Lac Taureau). The Artic Cat snowmobile didn't fire up, a first, and the car barely did... It was -35F.

Later that day, I find out the that warmest snowmobile boots didn't quite cut it! Seems ok to add antifreeze in the fuel system, same from the blood stream! Guess what I added for human additive, cognac? No! I got a pair of "little hotties" from Foot Warmers - Little Hotties Warmers

3-4 hours of pure comfort, I went back at Costco, bought a another boxe, if you where closer to home I would give you one to try out! -- nice--- :thumbsup:

5030: you dont know what you are missing. You can go to the doctor of your choice you just may have to pay out of your pocket for it. Alberta healthcare was pretty darned good. I cant speak for other provinces. There wasnt the long waiting lines for doctors (MRI was a wait due to lack of machines) and I thought their doctors were pretty good.

If I had a few million in retirement funds, I wouldnt mind living there, especially Calgary, didnt care too much for Edmonton as it was too hard to get around in. I built a really nice 2300 square foot home in Ark for around $250K. In Canada I could maybe get a single wide mobile home without any land for that price, at least that was prices in Fort MacMurray and Calgary wasnt much cheaper. A million bucks will get you a fairly nice home in Calgary on a small lot.

thanks for the support Gary, Canada being the second largest country in the world is alot of things to a lot of different people. Yes 5030 french gals are alot of fun but there's more to Canada than snow and as you say bad medical care( I like the system, my American friends take less than good jobs for no money but benefits???? That always puzzled me. And I realize its not all of America that operates that way.)

I have a pair of side zipper Sorels (that my mate bought me about 25 years ago) that still do the trick, although finding replacement felts locally was always a problem. Now I buy them on-line right from Sorel.

This winter I commercially plowed snow, starting around 2am and finishing most days around 10:30am. I wore my Muck Boots Arctic Sport boots the entire time. I would get home, and do chores in the same boots, then eat, shower, and sleep. I always put those on the boot dryer if I wore them that day. Sitting on my horse up hunting I had 600 gram Irish setters, and I love them. Warm and waterproof, and comfy to walk in for extended periods. I shot my elk about three miles in, quartered it and loaded it on my horse, then led the horse out on foot, all three miles. I had hot spots, but never a blister when I got back to the truck. I always have a problem with sorrels where e leather separates from the rubber, or the rubber cracks. A pair of Whites I had also cracked the weather, after only about 3 hours of walking.

i've had the same pair of black military style mickey mouse boots for the better part of 20 years. they still do a pretty good job. with technology, i'm sure there are better things out there now, but mine haven't failed me yet so i haven't had the need to look around for something else. driving a standard shift vehicle with them is several steps past impossible though.

if i'm going to be moving around constantly i find that almost anything short of steel toes will keep me warm though, so i only use the mickey mouse boots when stationary. my ancient insulated bean boots (insulated lower, plain leather upper) works great when walking.
