BrushhillDave: not at all, I loved the Alberta people and living in Canada the 5 years or so that I was there. Of all my jobs all over the world, my Canadian friends are the only ones I regularly keep in touch with.
I am just finished up with working and if I ever get the chance to go back to Canada vacationing it will be for a summer visit for some of the fantastic fly-in fishing that is available there. I did many of the lakes in far northern Alberta, and I have a friend from Saskatchewan province that invites me up all the time. I would go back to Canada for sure, but only in summer. The wife and I both loved the winter but only for recreational use, I dont care to have to work 10 hours per day in it. I enjoyed the ice fishing in the winter, but mostly because it gave me something to do for 4 months of winter. Worst part of winter is beginning, waiting for the ice to form and season to open and end when the ice gets thin and you have to wait for spring melt.
