Warmest Boots, which are best?

BrushhillDave: not at all, I loved the Alberta people and living in Canada the 5 years or so that I was there. Of all my jobs all over the world, my Canadian friends are the only ones I regularly keep in touch with.
I am just finished up with working and if I ever get the chance to go back to Canada vacationing it will be for a summer visit for some of the fantastic fly-in fishing that is available there. I did many of the lakes in far northern Alberta, and I have a friend from Saskatchewan province that invites me up all the time. I would go back to Canada for sure, but only in summer. The wife and I both loved the winter but only for recreational use, I dont care to have to work 10 hours per day in it. I enjoyed the ice fishing in the winter, but mostly because it gave me something to do for 4 months of winter. Worst part of winter is beginning, waiting for the ice to form and season to open and end when the ice gets thin and you have to wait for spring melt.

Further to the Canadian experience: When I got to Canada, everyone was telling me how poor the fishing was now compared to years back. I sure couldnt imagine how it could be much better than it is now at least on some of the lakes. On one trip, I made 10 cast and caught 10 fish, all while my fishing partner was trying to get the hook out of one fish. I usually didnt keep a count, just practiced catch and release, but some friends from the states came to Ft Mac for visit and fishing and were keeping count so I kept count with them. Before noon we each had caught more than 100 fish apiece. These were mixtures of Pike and Walleye, nothing big, most were 28 or so inches long although I did catch 2 that day that went 40 and 38 which was exceptional for Lake Gregoire.
I suppose the good fishing was when you just pulled you boat by the lake and the fish jumped in.

It was all in fun Mr Fowler, you're more than welcome to join my family on the lake if you plan a return trip, we're on the water just about every weekend.

Canada is ok. Just ok. I'd never live there. I want to go to a doctor and hospital of my own choice and they have wacko gun laws and funny money... loonies and toonies and such and the coins are made of what appears to be aluminum.....

Used to go there but since you need a passport now, I'll pass.

French Canadian gals are a hoot though.............

Dave, where did you find those tiny fish at? Did you raid a Canadian hatchery or something.
Like the boat, looks like plenty of room that I could get away from the wife and her side arm cast. I've had my hat yanked off several times by her lure. Luckily no hooks it the body anywhere.

5030: you dont know what you are missing. You can go to the doctor of your choice you just may have to pay out of your pocket for it. Alberta healthcare was pretty darned good. I cant speak for other provinces. There wasnt the long waiting lines for doctors (MRI was a wait due to lack of machines) and I thought their doctors were pretty good.

If I had a few million in retirement funds, I wouldnt mind living there, especially Calgary, didnt care too much for Edmonton as it was too hard to get around in. I built a really nice 2300 square foot home in Ark for around $250K. In Canada I could maybe get a single wide mobile home without any land for that price, at least that was prices in Fort MacMurray and Calgary wasnt much cheaper. A million bucks will get you a fairly nice home in Calgary on a small lot.

Warmest Boots, Which Are Best?

The warmest boots you'll ever own are the ones you take off at the airport before boarding a flight to the Caribbean.....

LOL, but then they are much colder when you next wear them!
That and there aren't enough layers of clothing to make you comfy.

I have STC 'Shire' boots, everything I always wanted in a warm, safety work boot. Chain saw resistant! Its a Canadian company in Montreal although there is production in China as well. STC Footwear: Safety Work Boots Fire Military, Mining and First Responders

I have the STC Crestons. Best boot I have ever worn. In fact I bought two pairs at once last time. They have been to the North Pole twice.... so I would say they're pretty darn warm.

There is a problem though. On their website, they claim to be 100% Canadian made and owned. However, the tongue tag clearly says made in China....

I have had many types of boots from hunting to snowmobiling. I find using my work boots in a good pair of 5 buckle boots works the best for me. I can ride my 4 wheeler in 5* weather and my feet stay warm.

Same for me!
