I had a drone fly over - hover and land in one of my fields. This was last summer. So I did get my shot gun - why??? - h e l l, who knows - and went out there. It was still there - not running and by its size - not a private drone. One central gasoline engine - four outboard propellers - engine was twin cylinder - Yamaha - about 100 cc or so. It had a pretty good sized gimbaled camera hanging under it. Called the State Police - they came with a van - picked it up - never heard another word about it. Next time I'll consider keeping it - ha,ha.
And, as said by Doofy, you hover a drone over my property - where I can get at it - by God, you can consider it a goner. I don't give a rat's azz about aircraft laws or not - you hover over my property - you are spying on me - your azz is toast.
One of my favorite sayings - - "Dead men tell no lies".
You know - somebody on this thread mentioned - why would anybody want to check on my property. That's what I've always thought - been out here 36+ years. However - I've had three occasions that have altered my thinking. Twice a small - twin seat - unmarked, black helicopter hovered over my property. FAA's answer - there is no such thing as an unmarked aircraft - well, sorry, but I tend to differ with that statement. One time a Super Cub buzzed me out on the big lake several times. Two guys in the Cub - passenger taking pictures like a mad man.
I'm not paranoid but I guess it pays to be cautious.
