Is there any reason that UDT should not be disposed of at the local community used motor oil collection center?
Thanks, Martin

If they accept 30W motor oil, no.

if they except any oil, they will take it. The people working there have zero clue what oil it is.

That is a pretty broad statement to make about folks. I am sure you have no idea about all used oil collection areas.

I would also think they would accept it, not make an exception of it.

All I am saying is that they, the people working there, are taking your word for it. Also what happens if you do not know and say it is used oil period? Do they verify or test it? Do they refuse to except your oil since you are not 100% sure? No.

Again, they have no clue nor care. Maybe I am way off but the collection areas I have gone to in various states and citie/towns, they do not know or care.

The types of industrial furnaces that burn that refuse oil are not going to be phased by the relatively small amount of "less burnable" oil or fluid that might be mixed in to a semi load they receive. Now, if the semi was loaded with high quality synthetic and other fluids such as Super UDT, they might face some challenges.
The reason the recycling staff does not seem to care is that the percentages of mix have not caused the hauler to caution them about content.

I return my waste UDT to my dealer and they dump it in their waste hopper in the shop. When I bought my fluids, I asked the dealer if they could take the waste back and they had no problem with it as long as I bought the fluids there.

When I disposed of my used oil(s), they questioned the cleaner looking oil and I said it was hydraulic fluid. They would not accept it. I went back the next day after mixing it with motor oil and the same guy took it no questions asked. I believe it was at Advanced Auto.

I guess I somewhat consider myself that guy at the collection point that you are referring too, so I find it somewhat offensive.

Here is a link to our program.

While I will often agree that most folks accepting used oil might not know all they should about it.

To Say that All of us have no clue nor do we care is not accurate.

Do we test it or verify it, yes, within certain parameters we do. And I think you will find that most places will simply refuse to take your used oil if they suspect it is not as advertised.

I guess it is pointless to try and point out to you that generalizing people as you are is not appropriate and could be found offensive by some..
