Waster discharge pipe size ? - Plumbers say tear up my new slab to up size risers

As some of knowledge have said already pipe size is determined by fixture units. Each fixture (sink, shower, toilet) has a fixture unit value. It's pretty easy to figure what the required pipe size is needed. Any plumber worth his salt can explain and tell you how many fixture units each fixture and how many fixture units each size pipe will carry. I don't remember the figures off hand, it's been years since I worked as a plumber and changed my profession from turd herder and went to a higher paying profession. I got really tired of brown carp and white mice.

Ain't that the truth. My dad was a plumber so I grew up plumbing. Finally changed professions when I turned 30.
Truth is 3" is just fine. With that said, I would have gone with 4" coming out of concrete. Not because it's better or needed, but because it's easier to glue the toilet flange inside the pipe rather than chip up the concrete on the outside of the pipe to glue the flange on. We never put the flange on with the sub-rough plumbing because most of the time the concrete guys would not keep it level and there would be concrete where the closet bolts are installed.

There are good concrete finishers and then there are ones that think they are. It's in the details that count and when they think it's the plumbers problem you know they are the ones that think they are. I always like it when you would put in a floor drain and it ended up the high spot of the floor and the concrete folks told the owners it was the plumbers fault. I mostly worked industrial level on a military installation. Lots of old cast and galvanized pipe. Lots of big stuff and big wrenches. We even had some old wooden water mains.

Thanks for the pictures of your slab. From what I can see in them, everything looks good. Vent is close to the toilet, water lines are wrapped in foam, and an overall clean finish to it.

What are the long, rectangular things with vents at the end of them?

Not sure what you are seeing in the pic, only rectangular thing I see is a box sitting on the slab. Glad to know slab looks good. Thanks for all the advice/tips.

They laying on the ground in front of the house. Looks like seven of them. Long rectangular things with vents at the front of them. Makes me think of AC ducts, but I can't figure out why you would use them for AC ducts. Or they are some sort of beams with vents just laying next to them that have nothing to do with what they are.

Oh, ha, I understand now. Sorry, thought you saw something on the slab. No, thats the metal roofing but yeah they do look like long ducts with vents on there. That is a scrap piece of metal they tack onto the crate to protect the roofing. Mueller standing seam. All that rock is from East Texas Brick, think they are over in your neck of the woods.

There are good concrete finishers and then there are ones that think they are. It's in the details that count and when they think it's the plumbers problem you know they are the ones that think they are.

It's the details that count is right.

Some wannabe plumbers push a short piece of rebar into loose gravel and wire tie their pipes to it and expect it to stay in place while the concrete is being poured and worked.
