Hello,

Just thought I'd post a little note to say hi from our house.

Although I am Scottish, I live in New Zealand with my wife and new baby boy and i am a victim for nearly anything mechanical.
Currently renovating ;
Suzuki TF125 Mudbug x 2 (Farm/trail bike)
Yamaha YTM200 (trike)
Valpadana 6055dt (orchard tractor soon to be log splitter)

I also like chainsaws and making them cut faster

Firewood is a bit of a hobby, too.
Need about 8 cubic metres every year around here. Same for the neighbours.

Digger driver/Agricultural contractor by experience.
Now make/repair hoses and flexible lines (Chemical/fuel/food grade, etc)

Also into pipe smoking and Whisky sampling (18yo Highland malts, yum!)

Welcome aboard.... now get over here and cut me 8 cords of firewood

Welcome! I've been to Scotland, but not New Zealand. I understand it's quite beautiful.

I share your interest in things mechanical, firewood, and single malt whiskey. I used to smoke a pipe - full bent with Latikia Turkish blend tobacco - but gave it up because I kept burning holes in my pockets and shirts.

Luck with your projects.

Why the h*ll would you need 8 cords of wood ??? Winter hasn't started yet and it is expected to be mild. It was only 3.8c this morning :D

Thanks all,

After getting a faint whiff of smoke people regularly ask me what i'm smoking in my pipe.

Tibetan grass clippings and sawdust!

It's truly magical how many people get sucked in :D

I'm originally from Butterstone, near Dunkeld.

8 METRES of firewood, not cords :confused2:
Think I'd have popped a fu-fu valve after splitting 16cords of firewood by hand.
Actually probably after the second one. I aint that good!
That's why I'm a lazy sod and building a log splitter.

Jmurray: Where art thou good sir?

Jim Shooz: It's cold up in the Kaitemakian Highlands here. Unlined steel roofs suck at retaining heat!

Whisky of choice at the moment is a 12yo Edradour 'Caledonia'

Oh, btw. New Zealand is awesome.
It's a wierd blend of the technologically new and the truly prehistoric and everything in between, which is why it's perfect for wierd, bearded, pipe smoking Scotsmen who build tractors for fun.

Kirk, out!
