We had fried catfish filets cut up last night and breaded in Masa flour...really good..fried in Canola Oil...with a salad.

Here is what really irritates me....It was the only fish we could find that was from America...the catfish...every other fish at Sams or any of our grocery stores comes from China, Viet Nam or other Asian countries...and many are farm raised in sewage ponds...Yuk....We live only 4 hours form the Georgia coast and cannot buy any Georgia seafood or any US seafood except this catfish....Imagine that...what gives..?

The people farther away are willing to pay more for it than the locals are.

I've seen it everywhere. In California we saw truckloads of tomatoes, but all we got in the store was terrible from south america.

You can't buy Virginia Peanuts in Virginia except at tourist trap shops and only for a small fortune.

Honestly, it is capitalism, and I support it. A seller should be allowed to sell to whomever is willing to pay the most....

Just saying...

Brin...check around the local markets and ask about fresh (wild caught) Georgia shrimp...they are distributed daily and never frozen (if you get them from the right places)...

I know you are right about that David....I am a capitalist but I am not a " One World Order " guy...I get sick when I thing of the day Geo H.W. Bush announced the new world order...it has crushed our economy and our country as has the EU in Europe done to the UK and other once prosperous countries.

You are right ...once in awhile I have see at Kroger...fresh wild caught Ga. shrimp...but no fish...just shrimp...all I have ever seen is Catfish from the US...and I have toured catfish farms in the Miss. delta and they are very well run...not like in Asia where they are full of chemical run off and sewage....

you guy's talking about local food not being avalable, when katrinia hit the coast our seafood resturants double the price on shrimp and oysters. said they had to get them from oter supliers. later we found out they were not getting them from the gulf coast to begin with. well we had some left over meatloaf tator cakes and green beans roll's and glass of tea. not bad

Wife made a bacon, spinach quiche with our fresh eggs, and she made a spinach & red leaf lettuce salad with olive oil & balsamic vinegar dressing...

Pretty good. My oldest made me a 1/2 dozen of shortbread cookies dipped heavily in Hershey's Dark Chocolate...

Took the wife out to eat for valentines day. A local caterer has a small place that he only opens for special events or for a group. The main course was filet mignon and a baked spud with some very good cheese cake for desert. Way too rich but I was so very good.

Actually bought a 3 pack of Cracker Jackes yesterday with free prize inside each box. I had no idea they were still avaible? Haven't had a box since probably the mid sixties? $1.25 for three boxes. A bit more then the 5 cent boxes in 1965.

Bob,

There is a picture of me in my Member of the Month article... No sir I'm 6' tall and have not been under 200 for most of my adult life. 205 is about as close to fighting trim as I get anymore. In 2003-2005 I was in the Army Guard and I got down to 198 and looked tough as nails.

I'm about 215 with my winter weight.

But don't call me fat, cause that's how the fight started...

Last night I smoked my BEST YET rack of ribs.

Wife and I have agreed we are going to try shopping from the freezer and cooking up stuff we've had so we can empty and clean the freezer.

It was gonna be warm and sunny on a Friday, I was gonna work from home with no hellish commute, so I said I'll BBQ. She found a rack of ribs. Work went later than I planned but I got a good fire started in my little smoker and laid some old cherry on the coals and I did the olive oil spray trick and then rubbed my Sezged Rib Rub. She made a killer salad, and roasted potato "jo jo's" both white and sweet. while it was smoking I fed the horses, moved hay, and a few of my other chores, many in pitch dark.

The last hour the wife and I had a Friday Happy hour of tequila shots with lime wedges :licking: (Long, long ago she proposed while we were out to dinner and drinking some fine sipping tequilas...) This was just the cheap stuff unfortunately.

I decided to use my remote talking meat thermometer she bought me a few years ago, and poked a thick spot and it was 168 degrees, and it hit 170 in 3 min and we were done! the two end bones just fell out when I moved it to a tray to bring it inside. No direct eat at all, strickly cherry wood smoke

There are no pictures, heck there are only 3 ribs left. The baby even knawed one of the smaller bones and picked it clean, and asked for another! This was a big rack with the skirts and the breast bone. Manly ribs not baby ribs...

Man oh man that was YUMMY... :licking:
