Using PEX has its advantages and very few disadvantages. Not all types use red and blue, some simply use clear. Some use brass fittings for tee's etc, others use all plastic. PEX can freeze and not break returning to its original size after thawing. PEX is not UV proof so cannot be used in direct sunlight. I wonder too if you have a rodent problem if they will chew the lines up, that could be a real issue. It won't corrode like copper when the water PH is acidic which can be typical with wells.
