Water Hose/Garden Hose Repair

I buy hoses that are quality and will last for 10 years + if mounted on a hose reel. The ones that I drag across my driveway to the garden and then drive over them (including FedEx, USPS, and UPS trucks) will sometimes split or get a pinhole. A straight brass clamp-on fitting normally seals those hoses for many years. Now, if I could just get soaker hoses to quit bustin' prematurely. . . :confused2:

If you need to splice the hoses, use pex fittings with crimp fittings. gawd-- I love the crimp fittings and I cant get over how easy it is to use. The ends, you just gotta go with metal ends made for garden hoses. I tried the plastic ones and they will last half a season or so the way I use it.

I tried soaker hoses for a couple of years. Same results as you describe. Was cleaning out some trees, vines and brush from woods near my house. As I drug out a downed trees loaded with vines, I noticed something black coming out. Hmmmm that's where I put all those bummed up soaker hoses.

I like the ones pictured above. If I keep repairing, I'll have more money in splices than I paid for the hose.

Yep, that's the way me hoses are looking now! Pieces of junque all spliced together. I've been thinking about those on TV ads, curl back up like a snake. Now the old boy who says he invented is on TV saying his is better with brass fittings. That's the ticket.

What is the pressure? We run Craftsman rubber hoses at 80psi continuous .... and up to 95psi sometimes. No problem over years of use -- hot or cold.

Should be about 75-80 psi -- so it sounds like those hoses will handle it fine.
