I used black polyflex for a couple hundred feet. Home Depot stuff. Middle grade of three they had. I think choices were 120, 160, and 200psi. Even though your pressure is low enough I chose to go heavier (160psi) just so it didn't get crushed or damaged from rock fill or land shift whatever. I like your idea of the copper wire but that will cost you a few pennies I would think. But if you don't have any above ground reference then probably a real good idea. I did use brass fittings. Not a strong believer in using plastic valves/fittings but I do use schedule 80 stuff for some projects... like large salt water aquarium plumbing. Double clamping suggestion was a good one too. I noticed some trouble with using single hose clamps and getting them tight enough on my last install plumbing my green house with the black poly 1in.
