Water temp gauge?

Switch, swap.....that's what I meant!!! But what about possible damage to (already leaking) knuckles etc.?
No no no.

Move the right tire to the left side. And left to right.

The tread will then be going in the right direction.

And you won't have the additional stress of moving the tire's centerline out beyond the wheel bearings, which you would have if you turned each tire around without moving it to the opposite side of the tractor.

Did you have any thread-type issues? Or are these plug & play? Can you provide a link to where they can be bought?

no plug and play. the second set i bought came with the brass adaptors and fitted perfectly. the first set i had a temp sender adaptor made but the oil sender fitted straight in. it was hard up against the oil filter so i added a 90 degree bend to it and all fixed.the water is M16 x 1.5 and the oil is 1/8 npt

But......to switch the tires from one side to the other, so that the treads are facing in the right direction, results in the stance being considerably widened, thus putting stress on the knuckles.....right?

Anyhoo, that IS what I meant by swapping the tires!! :) :) :)

And another thing!!! The tractor is running in the 170s after working her. That seems too dang high. I guess all that's left to do would be a radiator flush, a new water pump, or a new radiator. Am I missing anything? :)

I don't think 170s is to high. Sounds like cooling is doing a fine job.

Maybe I'm being too nervous.....I recall someone quoting the engine temp specs between 150-170 as operating temp. I wish I could find out definitively, and stop worrying!!!!

The thermostat doesn't open on a YM226 until 160 degrees. This is per manual, not my opinion. The warning light comes on from 224 to 235 degrees Fahrenheit. This also is from manual. Not saying I never give bad information but am highly confident your 170 degrees is not to hot.

Sorry if I misread the issue and my comments are confusing. In the prior post I thought one objective was to correct tread that is presently pointed in the wrong direction - as well as widen the stance. If this is not the case .... then my comment wasn't relevant.

At any rate it isn't recommended to get the centerline of the tire out beyond the wheel bearings.

Don't think my engine has a thermostat. I've read about the warning light temp being boiling. In my experience, once a diesel gets to 200 degrees, you have problems. I once ran a 43' Viking w/Detroit diesels. The DD people told the owner that the engines should not run any hotter than 170.

I had the head gasket blow, and now I'm committed to keeping the engine healthy. Maybe even a little over-zealous!!

Wasn't really meaning your model had a thermostat, just showing what similiar tractor with thermostat opened at. I respect your opinion and it is sure your tractor and what ever makes you comfortable is ok with me. You may have to install 2 radiators to make it run down below 170 in hot weather with a load. Just joking. Good luck to you!

Two radiators!! Why didnt I think of that?!?!

Anyone (who has a temp gauge) want to weigh in with the temp their engine runs at?
