Today I washed AND waxed my week and half old tractor, knowing full well that first thing tomorrow it's going right back to the dirt. My wife was looking at me kinda funny. Do you think I'm too attached to this tractor? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

That is actually a good thing to do. Even though you'll get it dirty again right away, the wax will help protect the paint from sun and will also make it easier to wash the next time around. I don't wax mine as often as I should (been a year or so), but if you want to protect the finish it is a good way to keep the paint up.

Also helps when (not if /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif) you scrape the paint. Touchup paint is the best route, but just waxing a scrape will help prevent moisture from getting in and starting the evil rust process.

Are you kidding? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif What forum do you think you're on? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif We all love our tractors! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

OK , then I can admit that I also waxed my FEL and LX-5 Rotary cutter.....just the top. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've waxed my FEL, too (not the bucket - do ya think I'm nuts or something /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif).

The cutter probably won't make much difference. After you use it for a while you'll be amazed at the damage that you'll see caused by thrown stuff. The side of my 'hog that is in the rotation path looks like a bumpy balloon where rocks, etc., have pounded it out.

But it was new once - and no harm in doing it... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yep, I put a little bulge in mine in the first 15 minutes /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Oh well now it's got "character".

Waxing is a good thing, not only for the protection, but because the polish rag will show you where cracks are forming. Race car owners insist on it, at least in the big money categories. I do my motorcycle at least once a week.

Never thought of that but I do think that often you do find things wrong when your washing/waxing. I have spotted leaks before.

What you guys have not been waxing the inside of your FEL buckets once a month?.... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
