Appliances are really bad as well. Had a double oven that was only a few years old, one of the touch keys stopped working. A new touchpad was a couple of hundred dollars if you could find one. I could never find one; discontinued.
I just replaced a stove I got in '98. Still wiorked, but not well and I just didn't want to mess with it. Oven wouldn't maintain temperature and the burners didn't always light. New one has a touchpad, control module and other electronics to run the oven and gas valve. Not sure how long it will last, but I'm guessing not 20 years.

I'm typing this on a 2010 Gateway laptop and I have an exact duplicate as a spare. Main thing I like is the 17" screen. I've replaced hard drives a couple of times and recently a cooling fan. Main thing I don't like is the RAM is limited to 8Gb. I've been looking at refurbed models with large screens and up to 16Gb RAM. I won't buy new.

FIX?? that is a joke,,
My '99 Silverado is almost perfect, 3/4 ton 4WD,, snowplow package,, almost no rust,,
I could not sell it for what a paintjob would cost. It is scrap, putting $$$ in it is like tossing the money out the window.

I thought those were bringing some pretty good money now? That's about what I'm looking for, but I'd rather have enclosed --- Suburban type.

I need ink now, and they are trying to get me to sign up for that service. I just can't bring myself to pay for the "privelege" of them telling me when I need ink. Results may vary, I can see where it would be handy for a small business which uses their printer constantly.
I don’t have a business and I love the instant ink. You can sign up for different plans for different prices. My $3.99 plan provides enough ink for mr to print 50 pages per month. And for that price , I would spend half that in fuel going to a store to buy ink (only to find out they are out of the cartridge numbers that I need).

The last ink I bought was on June 5 of last year and cost me about $73 at Staples. I have no idea how much I print, but it's more than 50 pages per month. (B/W is still on my inkjet, I buy a new cartridge for that every couple of years)
Actually I don't pay for it, I turn in the receipt and get reimbursed. I don't believe they would pay for a subscription though.

If I wasn't fixing up some old and discarded piece of crap, or trying to turn one hunk of steel into some other kind of hunk of steel, I wouldn't know what to do with myself. ;-)
