Wearing a sleep apnea mask?

The gadget the docs use to measure your blood oxygen on the fingertip can be bought for 20-30 dollars. Useful for checking in the morning if you feel tired. A low number would suggest mask was fitting badly. If level is high and you are still tired something else is going on.

I was diagnosed earlier in the Summer and have had a CPAP machine for about 2 months now.. I'm a side sleeper with a nasal mask and I turn a few times before I fall asleep.. I've yet to record more than 4 hours of continuous use and more often than not I must tear the thing off and toss it on the floor at some point during the night..Having a heck of a time adapting and about to visit the Doctor again to try a plan B if there is one.. It's not for lack of trying, but I just can't get used to something wrapped around my head at night while trying to sleep..

I feel your pain PRF. I wake up several nights a week with mask gone and on the floor with machine still running.

I couldn't make the nasal masks work either. Full mask covering mouth and nose, no problem.

Don, this is the first time I ever heard of the nose plugs. But I'm satisfied with my CPAP machine so at least for now, I'll stay with it.

I just heard this morning, from a friend, that his cousin could not use either a face mask or nasal pillow arrangements. Said that after half a dozen breaths he had to take the mask off as he couldn't breathe properly. I guess this does show how much each person is affected by seemingly simple equipment, to the point where their health could seriously be at risk.
Myself, I was completely surprised at how easily I got used to the nasal pillows (I have a beard and the full mask would not work) and have never looked back. Some are just not so lucky.

If you read some of the comments about the Provent nose plugs thingies, they may just be "snake oil" The first thing I thought of when it was described how they worked by building back pressure on the exhale, I thought "how in heck can that work" as my throat closed on inhale not so much on exhale. I have real doubts about those things. It would be nice though to not have to lug around the old CPAP when traveling.

Do you have the heated humidifier with it? On the original setting, I complained to the CPAP provider about it causing my dry mouth, and he suggested turning up the humidifier, so I have mine at about the maximum; still have a slight dry mouth, but not bad.
