Wearing a sleep apnea mask?

As previously posted I have had CPAP machines forover 20 years, and quite a few different designs of nasal masks. Never had a problem with any mask, and I wonder whether those having problems with them have a breathing problem that a mask cannot fix and needs further investigation. My Australian experience (where my machines are made, and I think the inventors of CPAPs) was useless advice that would not stop my snoring. I did try them. Next Scotland, where I was first advised a nose and throat operation - with a high failure rate. Then the CPAP and no more problems, but I am sure there must be lots of people with similar types of problems for whom CPAPs are not the answer. I regret all I can offer is sympathy, because anyone in the same house as me has been able to get a lot more sleep since I stopped snoring.

I finally (after 2 months) was able to sleep all night with the nose mask on, but had terrible gas and nausea all throughout the day.. My machine apparently adjusts automatically so the Dr prescribed a BiPap machine which I should be getting this week.. Evidently the BiPap has a greatly reduced pressure on the exhale stroke where the air gets into the stomach.. Hopefully this will resolve the gas... Anyone else get bad gas??

No, never had that problem from the CPAP. Now, the wife's Chili, well, that could be a whole different matter.:D

Hopefully the Dr. will get you straightened out.

No, no gas or anything like that. My machine has a water reservoir and heater that must put humidity into the stream/flow of air that I breathe. Who knows why but it works for me............God bless..........Dennis

Yep, I have the humidifier, too, and if definitely helps the dry mouth condition, and I have it turned up enough that it runs out of water every night.

When flying, always carry it on the plane. Since it is considered a medical device, it is not counted as a piece of carry on. TSA is familiar with the device. I just got back from a trip this past Sunday and did not encounter any difficulties getting it through security or on the plane. I always travel with it whether it is one night or ten. I always use distilled water when at home and away if I can. The only problem using tap water that I know of is scale build up from minerals in the tap water.

Apparently the airport security in Jackson Mississippi have not heard tell of cpap . They are about ready to lock the place down after looking at the xray. They were on full alert and suspicious while plugging it into the power outlet. They were rather letdown and disappointed when it failed to produce toxic fumes, smoke , biohazard or a loud KaBoom.
