Yea, maybe, IF you already have steel and crap laying around and a welder and good way to cut the stuff.

You'd have $20 just in a set of pins and a few rattle cans of paint. Let alone having to buy steel to do it.
You don't need to make it out of steel, an old plastic barrel or some plywood for a form for the concrete it good. Not building a work of art. A box blade would be a very versatile implement to have though.

Here is a thread on the subject. I'll be blowing with only chains this year, no ballast box. I will use chains only because I sometimes have a slippery slope to blow. If it wasn't for that I would not use chains or a ballast box. The BX25 does very well in snow with just turf tires.

I wasnt arguing that it isnt easy OR cheap.

Just arguing that it isnt $20 cheap.

A barrel and/or plywood is fine for the concrete, but you still need you buy the concrete and pins.

About the cheapest you could build one IF you dont already have stuff laying around is going to be north of $50. A small used blade on c-list isnt going to be much more than that
