Welcoming Corriher Implement to TBN

/ Welcoming Corriher Implement to TBN #11
My local dealer was flabbergasted, to say the least, when I told him the differences in pricing. Fact is, Corriher is a very large outfit and my local dealer is very small. Corriher had 80 tractors on their lot and my local NH deal had 5 or 6. So Corriher can buy and sell in volume and the little local guy cannot. Hess Farm Equipment, my local dealer, says they will be happy to provide service and of course, I will get all my parts and service from them. We have good folks in these parts.

Congrats on your new purchase. I too looked at Corriher. I found that both of my local NH dealers could match Corriher's pricing on the tractor and loader. Where they were off was on the implements. SO .. I buy the tractor locally and order the implements from Corriher.

I would like to clarify one more time that New Holland does not pay Volume on compact tractors. The only reason this dealer is so much less is because he is dealing on a much smaller margin than the rest of the dealers are willing to deal on. He is using the high volume low margin approach to business that has been discussed many times on the forum. He also just won a contest New Holland was running which netted him several thousand dollars to his bottom line.

Thanks for the clarification. That is what I was trying to say. You put it much more succintly.

I recently purchased a TC35D w/ 16LA & implements from Corriher. I called Corriher and got a quote on the package. When I priced Tractor/loader w/ local dealer, difference was $1,700.00, not counting sales tax (probable cap @ $300.00). Local dealer wouldn't budge, even when I told him I would buy if he got close. Salesperson suggested they only had to do warranty work on units they sold.

I then drove 2 hours to Newton to meet Ted. Bought my tractor the same day, got it delivered in 3 days. Ted also gave me a good trade on my old Jubilee, which was not running, and killed the local dealer on implement prices. I also ended up getting a 4n1 bucket, remotes, bushhog cutter, auger, and RFM. Ted even swapped out my 5' box blade for a new HD 6'.

I called my local dealer's service dept, and the mgr there said they will do warranty work on any NH. Even if they don't, I saved more than enough $$ to buy or rent a trailer to haul my tractor to Newton, where I am confident that I will be taken care of.

Ted seems to be a nice guy, and I liked his direct, no-nonsense approach to selling his products. I will continue to do business w/ him. Also, Brandon there has been helpful in making sure deliveries were completed, etc.

This site was also valuable in helping me select the proper tractor and implements- I have really put it to use, and will post photos when I get a little time.

Let's all remember, though, that doing business locally is always preferable, provided that the price difference is not substantial. While your local dealer must service CNH products regardless of the selling dealership, it is only natural that he will offer those who did business with him better, quicker service and other perks like loaner tractors, free service calls or trucking for warranty repairs, etc.. These items can add up in a hurry, and far outweigh a 2 or 3 percent difference in price.

Drewtrac, first, please fill out your profile so we know where you are, land size, etc. Second, not everyone has a NH dealer that actually provides good service. Mine does. I am happy that they do, but they do charge for pick up/delivery and there is no free loaner. But I am happy with them. My local guys were very competitive in price on my tractor and have beaten Corriher (and others) on several implements. However, there are numerous posts that indicate that many dealers will NOT deal in many areas of the country (the south east and the north east as well as California all seem to have this complaint).

I recently bought a TC33DA supersteer, FEL and flail mower from Corriher. I live in Apex, NC and drove to Newton to meet Ted and was impressed with the way he does business. He gave me a great price and delivered as promised. My local dealer wanted my business bad and reluctantly agreed to match Corrihers price but acted like I was trying to steal from him. I would rather deal with a dealer who gave me a good price up front.

Any NH dealer will do service work so I don't really see much advantage to buying local.
