I think L-56 you can get in .023" or .025", .030", .035", ,045", .052", and 1/16".

NR-212 the smallest I think they sell is .045". You can get .030" in NR-211.
I see they have a NR212 3/64 but I don't know what that is or where I would place it in the chart for heat/speed. Seems to calculate to about .040 is that a size? Would I just split it between .035 and .045 if it was?

3/64" could just be a misprint for 5/64" :confused3:

3/64" = .046875"

Too close to .045" to be needed in their inventory in my opinion?

I have no doubts about your welder having the power for the task.
Do you have experience with welding 1/4" and 3/8" material?

Here is what NR-212 looks like.
First picture is flat.
Second picture is vertical up hill.
Third picture is over head.

Consider drilling the qa plate on the flats and then plug weld it as well as doing the edges.

I drilled three 1" (?) holes on either side of mine (5/16" plate) and plugged 'em ... and then ground them smooth so the tractor-side qa would mate with no issues. Lincoln PowerMig 215 ...

Hasn't come loose yet ... :D

Instead of 2 pages, the simple answer is yes... of course you can.

It concerns me that 1) someone thought a QA plate might be 3/4 thick steel and 2) the OP has picked the plate up before and didn't know it wasn't even close to 3/4 :p

Good point. Also 2 pages in and no pics of the project.

In these lengthy discussions many things will be learned. For example did you look as SA's pictures?? Can you weld like that??

I would agree that a person experienced with metal would know the difference in weight of a piece of 1/4" versus 3/4". But for someone trying to learn, maybe not.

I consider myself an average welder. For me, the most important thing is understanding where the stresses are going to be and how to best overcome them. By that I mean using grinding/angling techniques, different welding positions, etc. Last would be my concerns about the Welder's ability. Operator ability comes first. I'll guarantee you SA can weld it on with a much less capable welder than the OP owns. :)

Feasibilty of the project might come first. Without a pic of the project and the parts, forum assistance spirals off into uselessness. Not that pics prevent that, but they make good help "possible". :D
