It's possible; is it right next to the weld seam?
A lot of times we'd get ornamental iron railing back into the shop after water would freeze in some of the pickets and balloon them out at the bottom.
Whenever I'd build OI I always drilled at the bottom for anything to drain, it also served to vent during powdercoating so if there was a pinhole oily air wouldn't come out and blem the finish.

I didn't look down the tube but thought it wasn't straight, as the weld would be.

you didn't know Pettibone is up here? By refinery, I'd guess you mean stamp mill.

My cousin live in Hanncock. We used to hit the woods on sleds and find old mining camps. I’ve spent some time around the old mill and sunk dredge. Got to see a few of the old mines. A friend in southrange guided some film crews through them and took us.
