Welder Recommendations?

I think they make a very thin circuit breaker, so two of them will fit in the place of one slot.. This could open up enough room for say a 60 amp breaker for your welder. Check Home Depot or Lowes.

 AFAIK they're manufactured in the UK which might be a problem if you need parts.

They are sold there under that brand name, but the units I've looked at were all made in China.

I'm on the miller site, but can't see the '180', can you please be more specific?

Do you mean this one? Miller Welder

Sincerely,

I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but the Miller that was recommended to me by 2 brothers who have operated a high end NASCAR welding shop for some 23+ yrs (and only use Miller) was this one: {HERE}

Smartguyz,

I doubt someone would recommend an expensive TIG welder as a single all you'd ever need welder. Suspect there is a Miller MIG or stick welder he was refering to.

Another Miller unit that came highly recommended is the Millermatic Passport, {HERE} a higly portable 115V MIG unit. I've seen a couple at the track, and owners/users love 'em. Portability doesn't come cheap, however. Alas, I don't think I'll be getting one of those any time soon. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Has any of you used the lincoln 175 or 180 mig welder, and if so what is your opinion.

I have the Lincoln 175 mig, and it works great. You can use it with gas or without, if you use the cored wire, It will take the small rolls of wire, or use the 11 lb spool. You can also weld aluminum with it if you get the inner sleeve. I purchased mine off of Ebay for around $575. They make several models of the 175.

Lowes has a 220 volt if I remember correctly 175 that they want $599 the wire speed is variable but the temp settings clicks into position I think there is about 4 or 5 of these fixed settings but I think they make one that has a variable setting too for the temp do you think that is a extra that would be worth the extra bucks.
