Welding Cost

I'm not a welder but I do it as part of being an equipment mechanic. I would charge an hour min @ $90/hr plus $20 for consumables (grinding discs, welding gas, wire, gasoline for the welder/generator, etc) and $3 a mile for travel since I only do mobile repair and don't have a shop.

The travel charge could be negotiable if I could do it at my convenience and you weren't out of the way of where I normally go.

I didn't see where he said how big the hooks were. So I was being generous. This is the type of hook I'm use to dealing with,

UHHH....6 rods wouldnt go very far with that hook

, but I wouldn't think he would want this welded to his bucket.

Be more like welding his bucket to the hook:laughing:

Never mind the hook, I want to see the bass you catch with it!

Mail em too me and ill save you $100. Just pay the shipping back and forth, and ill weld em on plates for ya with the holes to bolt em on. I try to be quiet, but jeez some people are nuts, like the mechanic that wanted top $ like a liscensed welder. Gotta put jobs into perspective with a price sometimes. Im a class 1 unrestricted liscensed structural welder, and I dont even know you, but for bucket hooks cmon I would probably ask you to just walk my dog.

Hmmmm, I'm not sure how charging $10 more than what he is paying makes me nuts, but okay. I do have a business that costs money to run, but I understand how that makes me a bad guy. Believe me my feelings are never hurt when somebody chooses not to have me do their work. I'm not in business to cheat people, I'm in business to provide a service and make a living. It's a career not a hobby.

Sorry! Did I hurt your feelings, I was really trying to crush them. If you always wanted to be a welder than you should have dropped the wrenches and become one. I have a tool box too!
