Gasless cored wire works well for Galvanized material but many production plants run Silicon Bronze. Wayyy more money but it is a Spray process that puts down a nice looking bead. Gasless cored wire like Lincoln NR211 work good but tons of spatter and even more smoke. We used to sell Silicon Bronze for the weld and while the bead was still hot you would go over it with a rub on Galvanizing Stick. Called Gal-Vis from Harris Welco. Weld and Galvanize in 2 quick applications. Gal-Vis is great for my Galvanized Boat trailer too. Fixes Rock Chips.

google Jim Paw Paw wilson and welding galvanised and you'll read about how it killed him.

If I remember correctly Jim Paw Paw Wilson had other health issues that contributed to his death.

Last time I got poisoned with it, about 1990 my wife had enough of this crap, she called the Poison Control Center in Atlanta Georgia, they said to treat it like the 24 to 48 hour flu. At that time there were no known long term effects.

I've welded a lot of sheet metal with Silicon Bronze, but never anything structural.
We used this stuff to cover the burned, and welded areas.

If I remember right, SIB is only 26k tensile. Not good for structural I would guess. It was used extensivly in the large roof top air handlers and conditioners, Old apple washers and conveyors. I like SIB but would never buy it to weld galvanized. Most new Pulse Mig units do a good job on Galvanized, Rust, Grease and Painted material with plain old S6 wire with minimal or no grinding. IMHO pulse is the answer to a lot of welding issues..It's all the craze these days and I couldn't live without it now.
