You would not believe the amount of people who ask me what SWL means.
Those beams were used as spreader bars to pick precast concrete utility vaults for an aircraft carrier pier we built at the local Navy shipyard. All I had to do was cut off the ends and make a full pen splice in the center of the 24' long, 12" x 87# W-shape.

Sorry, I always curious on other acronyms so I often use the free dictionary online to look up other options. Sometimes it proves humorous.

Yeah I have that trouble too, but probably less often than you do.


Here's a simple project for grilling in a woodstove.

The problem:

Not difficult to build. Can't remember where I got the grille, but they are everywhere if you keep you're eyes open.

I like that grill for the stove project. I save all grates and grills from any junk appliances I get. They work great for quick repairs to chicken pens and small animal cages.

Thats interesting when I saw the picture i had just watched an episode of This Old House and the crane looked almost identical to one used in a concrete precast facility they did a segment on.
