I am about ready to head out to the property to install my pump. Hopefully by this eveing I'll have some pictures to post of my success or failure.

I think I have all the parts/tools/etc. that I need. A big thank you to Polecat -- if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be in this situation to do this myself.

BACK AT the top of page 7 i posted a pic of my bud jon feedin off pipe to my buddy and i as we fed it down the well and applied tape as we went...flealie said that he'd put it all together onthe ground...i would strongly urge not doing this ..first of all the pipe has a memory and loves to recurl on itself....2nd ..unless u have nice grassy areas that is clean of rocks and debris....u can nick the wire...get debris and other things into yer well... plus concentrating yer man power close to the well makes things easier...we had 2 guys at the well peedin and taping and two garden forks with a piece of pipe thru the handles with the roll of wire on it literally sel feeding..and one guy feedin thi pipe off to us ..it went slick as can b...fortunately gser has a fairly low well pipe and will probably make this situation much easier...mine sticks about 3' above the ground hence making things much more difficult
if all u have is dirt around ..do not spread it out on the ground...u never know what kind of stuff u will introduce into a nice clean well....good luck my friend and

Success! I phoned Polecat just before plugging in the generator so he could hear the good or bad news live. Luckily it was GOOD news. Here is the run-down of today:

[*]Got my handy-dandy PVC cutting tool to cut pipe
[*]Attached pipe to pump and installed torque arrestor
[*]Closer shot of torque arrestor
[*]Removed generator from box and added fluids
[*]Finally attached end of pipe (180') to well cap nipple
[*]Said goodbye to pump
[*]Started the decent
[*]Keep it coming
[*]Tightened down well cap
[*]Hopefully everything down below is correct
[*]Time to strip the wires
[*]Attaching to plug
[*]Got Polecat on the phone to give Play-by-Play
[*]We've got water -- rusty, but wet!

The water overflowed a 5-gallon bucket in 28 seconds. I'm sure a 5-gallon bucket holds more to the top than 5-gallons, so I think the pump is probably producing 11 gallons/minute.

I had less than a gallon of gasoline to put into my generator, so I only ran it for about 15 minutes. Tomorrow I'll fill it up and let it run to get alot of that rusty water out of the system. This well was drilled in 1989, so I'm sure the 180' of water in that pipe is not crystal clear by any means. I did pour about a 3/4 gallon of bleach down the well before dropping in the pump.

Now I will have to get myself a pressure tank and switch. But that is less eventful than today's excellent developments.

A HUGE thanks to Polecat for all his work on this. If anyone is thinking of installing a submersible pump and hiring someone to do it -- STOP and consider doing it yourself.
