My last tractor was a 33hp New Holland with a hydro and R-4s. I now have a 40hp New Holland shuttle with R-1s. The R-1s have scads more traction and I like them, but they sure tear up a yard. I liked the hydro, and I like the shuttle. For pure loader work, the shuttle is fine, and the hydro is better. For ground engaging work, I like the shuttle better. Kubota's GST (Glide Shift Transmission) is really cool.

That's just my 2 cents.

My parents have a G3830 with GST and I like it but not enough to compensate for the price.:2cents:

How bad does it damage the pasture, I don't really drive in the yard I have a rule around my house about driving in the grass. My family knows its almost a death sentence to drive on my grass.

I am concerned about the dry clutch and the longevity, I suppose it would stand to reason that you get about 75 to 100,000 miles out of a clutch in a truck, so a tractor must go a good while. It probably depends on operator use too. I am not a commercial user I do a 5 acre garden 2x a year and have cows.

The kubota glide shift power shuttle is what the previous tractor had, I do miss it a little but t do have 4 gears that are synchronized and can be shifted between with a quick bump of the clutch, this tractor has 24 fwd & rev were my glide shift only had 8 I really like that for matching ground speed to the equipment better. I really like the shuttle for most of the work I do, when discing, bush hogging, or other large field area work I can select the gear and go for hrs at a time and never have to touch a peddle or throttle, maybe touch a steering brake at the ends if it's lose dirt. A lot of loader work I can see a hst being nice. If you step up 10 hp that would definitely help make up for some of the hst power loss compared to your current tractor. Does the dealer happen to have a shuttle shift you can play with, might help you with your decision.

Well now that I know that it is clutched he has a DX45 on the lot I am going to drive tomorrow and see if I like it.

Driving across the yard with my R-1s isn't so bad. If I was doing a lot of turning and back and forth, it would tear up my lawn (sandy soil). I like the R-1s for working. I would want R'4s if i was doing finish mowing, or on groomed surfaces a lot.

Well I drove the shuttle on the NX and I think I will stay with the HST. On a side note the dealer told me that he had to contact Kioti to run diagnostics because after replacing the fuel relay he could not run a start/stop cycle :confused3: Anyways the technician found out that I had a faulty #1 fuel injector and that it was only outputting about 20% of the fuel it was supposed to. So needless to say the dealer said that he would like me to take the tractor home and work with it a couple weeks to see if with it running on all cylinders instead of 2 and a 1/4 that I still wanted to trade. So he will be bringing the tractor back Monday, he also is completing the 50hr service since I already have 43 hours and its there anyways.

Also for those interested I got an insurance policy on my tractor for full accidental coverage (Trailering, flood, farm/residential use, fire, theft.) Pretty much everything except just breaking something for $330 a year. Its the company that the dealership uses to insure the tractors on the lot and they also write individual policies. The dealer says they have used them for 20 years with quite a few claims and never an issue. Oh and the deductible is $500. I will post the website tomorrow I left the paperwork in the truck.

... my dealer said he thinks the NX shuttle doesn't require you to use the clutch which would be the big downfall...

Just that one sentence tells me you need a different dealer.

Not so much, Kioti jumps around a bit with what models and HP the PST is on. I'm pretty sure you can get a PST on the NX, but may be wrong.

No we found out it is on the RX and on the Dk10 series. Dosnt really make sense not to have it NX but oh well. The tractor will be coming home in the morning. Had the complete first service done and changed all fluids for $242.99. Dealer came and got the tractor (2.5hrs) and is bringing it back after service and warranty repair of the fuel injector, he didnt charge for anything but parts for the service, so I think I will keep my dealer. I find excellent service far out weighs a dealer who can recite every model and there respective options.
