Sorry for the troubles you have had with your bota. Sounds like you got the last one made that day /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. Either way, I have 3 dealers near me, I bought from the farthest one from me because of his demeanor and his dealership etiquette. He was also the middle price wise.

The highest was just to busy to bother with little ole me, and was upset when I told him, just the tractor MMM, and FEL. Tiller and other implements coming from local farm machinery dealer. When I went to get a firm price, the owners son (stuffed shirt, sales dud) was not there. Guess what, next guy in line, knew I had been in but priced me couple hundred more..........

Second stop, just did not like the dealer. Showed me a beat up traded in model and wanted 90% of new price. I would not have driven it on the lot much less at home. All he could do was call when one came in the was not asked for.

Third guy, stopped in once way before buying while waiting on a practice to open so I could service their computers. Nice place, sales guy was the owner, talked to me about several machines. Dealership had the farmer air about it. Never even drove one there. Called the guy after above 2 visits and ordered it on the phone, sent payment and got tractor in a week. That is what I call dealers.

Service, I take it or pay him 75.00 to haul it 75 miles each way. Now that I have a truck capable, I will haul it, and they will put it in line up to a week in advance, so I show up with it, get it fixed and leave with it, same day!

( I'm still waiting for the subframe (it's 3-pt mounted right now) )

/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I don't know the subtle differences between subframe & 3 pt mounted, so I have a dumb question...

Are they the "same" backhoe?

It would seem to me that since they mount in different ways, their mounting points would be different.

If I"m wrong, it's my ignorance

What I'm wondering though is you say you're waiting for the subframe and it's 3 pt mounted right now...

My gut wonders if you are waiting for a totally different b/h than the one you're currently using?

If it's a totally different hoe than the one you're using, are you being fed a bill of goods on the subframe comment? Is this a "loner" until the entire new unit arrives?

Or /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif can the 3pt mount and the subframe mount use the SAME end attachment?

enlighten my ignorance

Just to be fair, the dealer I did purchase the BX from was and still is the most helpful, kind, and informed dealer I know. I drive 70 miles each way just to buy filters from them. They have for the most part been exceptional. I just haven't figured out the local guys. Remember, one of them is 2 BLOCKS from here, but apparently isn't HUNGRY.

If there really is that much demand, I may have to open a dealership of my own! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif After all, if they can't get to a repair for 2 months, the maybe people would be willing to take it to someone who can!

Hey, Rich!
Generally, a backhoe can be mounted using a subframe (which mounts directly to the underside of the tractor frame and provides the sturdiest support) or to the 3-pt hitch (using a parts kit that ties the BH to the hitch). Some in this forum have expressed concern about mounting to the hitch due to the stresses a BH can impart to the hitch and rear of the tractor. As I understand it, if a BH is not mounted correctly to the 3-pt., it can lurch up into the tractor and kill you. My dealer first told me that the subframe was built and waiting to be catalogued, painted, etc. by the manufacturer before shipping. After I picked up my tractor he apparently forgot what he told me and said that they were done engineering it and it just had to be made. This kind of BS is frustrating and because of it I doubt I will buy any add-ons or filters or anything from him again. He knows his tractors and equipment, but the truth would have gone alot further with me and earned him more points. Anyway, I ordered the machine with the subframe; the 3-pt. mounting is temporary until it comes in. I hope I answered your questions.

Hate to hear that about your local dealer. I first went to closet dealer to me. I looked at the 3400 with a rhino brand f/m. He priced the tractor at 11,900 and mowing deck at 1500. I decided to call around to the Kubota dealer 35 miles north of his location. They gave me a price of 10,900 with folding rops , ag tires and included filling rear tires and delivery for that price plus tax. I also bought a first choice f/m for 1075. Thought it was a good deal and jumped on it. Had a friend call first dealer and get quote on same tractor and was told 10500,but when he showed up to look at it they said it would cost 11900 and 150more for folding rops and 70 more for filled tires. I will drive the extra 35 miles and do business with he who treats me best. Oh yeah, my friend went and bought his tractor from same salesguy I did a week later. Goodluck,Gunman

Whew. Some of you folks have had it bad.
You can't fault always fault a bad tractor on the dealer (there are occasions like that bolt thing on the lift ...), and recalls are factory things that dealers must, ah, deal with too.

As far as a tractor dealer, the one here in Ashland selling Kubota and New Holland are outstanding! They have bent over backwards two or three times helping me. They fixed a leaky hydo line on my FEL that I didn't know was leaking, just thought it was gunky. They drained some hydro from my tractor after I over filled the case that I thought was leaking...it was but only because I over filled the unit and when the bill came to me it was ZERO.
When I got my filters, fluids for the 300 hour service I'd picked up a Kubota hat and he said Merry Christmas (in May/June).
When I get another tractor (a bigger one...like I really need it), I will buy it from Davis Farm Equipment and I don't care what they sell!

Sorry to hear your problems with Kubota dealers. I've dealt with two major ones in Essex & Pittsfield, Vermont. Both dealers have been fantastic....very helpful and knowledgeable. My new local dealer in Pittsfield is just great....little place on the side of Rt. 7 that sells a lot of machines. They spent a lot of time with me mulling over a possible trade on something they wouldn't make much $ off.

Vermont is a great state with generally great people (certainly not all). It's pretty laid back here. -Maybe that's why the entire state has been listed as an "endangered" area by the National Register of Historic Places.

gunman,
I think we've got some of the best Kubota dealers around here in NC. Our local dealer has sold Kubotas' for over 20 years, has great service and is hard to beat on price.
