You will never beat the price ota-$0. I'm happy with it and the price.

Me too. If I randomly turn on the TV, there is probably nothing I want to watch, and I would get sick of the commercials anyway.

With a DVR, I get plenty of on-demand material that is interesting to me. It helps that I'm not a big sports fan. Some people would be lost without the ESPN channels.

I try to forget so that the reruns appear new. It's really tough though.........

Man - talk about SICK. It's really sad when the best part of any show is the commercial.

Yup, and if you miss the commercial the first time, there's hundreds of other times you can catch it LOL.
I turfed cable 3 years ago and don't regret it a bit. 40 minutes of a show in a 60 minute time slot not to mention of those 40 minutes a minimum of 10 are 'recaps' in case you forgot in 5 minutes what was going on.......Mike

On OTA programming, they're starting to snip pieces of the classic TV shows out to stuff in more commercials. A classic Andy Griffith Show with timeless Floyd the Barber scenes cut for a commercial is discouraging. I'm hoping they don't ruin these classics but am beginning to wonder if even OTA is my final answer..

I've noticed some old shows running in 40 minute time slots. I don't know if the original show was long or if that's another way to add more commercials, without destroying the show. I'm good with that, since I fast-forward through them.

I've also seen tendency for them to do picture in a picture, with the closing credits from one show playing in a box and the opening of the next show on the big screen. That also makes more time for commercials.

OTA has a channel called "Movies!", and they emphasize that the movies are NOT edited to fit into the allotted time. There are still plenty of commercials. They just don't care about ending right on a half hour.

I agree. My favorite channel -- RFD TV -- was dropped by Fios and it left a big hole in my viewing. My package is ridiculously expensive but I can only get Velocity TV -- my other favorite -- with the premium package. I could live without all of it except football. I don't think Hulu et al carries that but if you have any suggestions on how to get football without a traditional cable or dish subscription please let me know.

I've always thought there were three jobs that pay a lot and you can still be terrible at them: TV programming executive [failure upon failure], Burger King advertising executive [when was the last time they had a good commercial], and car company executive [bad decisions are a way of life there].
Oh ad to that the Creative Director in advertising for Liberty Mutual insurance. I mute them when they come on.

I watch Netflix but I haven’t had regular tv in a long time. It’s nothing but adds.

Maybe with winter coming I'll watch TV more, but I now go days without turning on the TV. My entertainment comes from audio books on my cell phone. I even have two sets of bluetooth ear buds, so one can be on the charger while I'm using the other. It lets me work in the shop or on the tractor while staying entertained. TV is not good for old folks. I watched my dad deteriorate because he spent too much time just sitting. I want to die with my boots on.

Got Direct TV when we moved to Texas. I wanted to keep watching teams not based in Dallas. Then, ATT bought DTV and they went downhill fast. Around that time the NFL lost their minds so I just ended Sunday Ticket, then all of DTV. Internet was always separate. We cut over $125 per month and have Prime and Netflix. Still not much on TV. Don't need local TV, I can grab news on my phone or web.
