Has anyone used a quick attach backhoe made for a skidsteer on the front of their tractor's FEL? Any thoughts on if this would be easier on the tractor rather than using a 3 point mount?

The main issues are:

1. plumbing
2. where am I going to sit and look over the work as I am doing it
a. I have to build a seat frame for it.
b. I have to leave the loader elevated to maintain a level plane at all
times which requires several adjustments of the boom and bucket/quick attach frame.
3. I have to raise. the backhoe and move it backwards every time I am done
trenching or excavating this portion of the work
a. I have to level the back hoe each time by lowering the boom, stabilisers and then again lowering
the boom then adjusting the stabilisers and I may just need to move the plywood pads
I have to maintain floatation and to prevent sinking as I dig in the dirt.
b. The dirt may be mud below the grade increasing the dirts suction which requires more breakout
force with the bucket cylinder as you cannot use the lower and upper boom to do this.

4. I have to run two two wire braid hoses to the rear remotes for the backhoe.

You need open center hydraulics for a back hoe to work.

Good lord, no.

The 3-point is way stronger than the loader. A skid loader has a MUCH stronger loader than a tractor, and yet skid loader backhoes have a mount on the skid loader and hoe that couples the two together so the force isn't on the loader.

It's also real short so the backhoe can exert much less leverage.

That is what I was thinking about, sounds like a bad idea.

Skid steer loader frames are built much heavier than compact tractor front end loader frames. You are just asking for trouble.

Probably why I couldn't find any other threads on the idea... :)

I thought I heard of someone on here that fixed one to work on his three point. I think it was someone who commented on Bfreeky's backhoe post.

I've got a case dx100 on a subframe that goes on my kubota L3410 works pretty good, just a bit slow due the the hydraulic pump flow is a bit low for the hoe.

countrybumpkin.....could you post some pictures showing the mounting connections/method for your backhoe? I have an older D100 that I would like to mount on my ford 335 and any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes I'll see what I can get for you.

Sorry i almost forgot about getting some pics. These are how they mounted the subframe to the backhoe. It has two brackets that bolted to the rear axles that the pins on the subframe slid into then the front was held in place by two bolts.

I'll look and see if I had taken any attached, I don't have the tractor anymore, but kept the backhoe to install on the new tractor.

I had a Case 1845C with a Case D125 backhoe attachment I sold to buy the Ford 4630. No way would I try to mount that backhoe on the front of a tractor. It was heavy and had 2 bars that "strapped" it to the machine to keep it from moving. It also had 2 outriggers mounted to the backhoe and you really had to jack the machine up to not drag it around while hoeing. I rarely used the backhoe for much more than burying a cow or dog. It was to much hassle to dig a ditch with having to get off the backhoe to back the machine up or pull forward. If you wouldn't use one much it would be easier to just rent a machine or hire someone to do your digging. That way you wouldn't have to keep it up. Seamed like every other time i used it I busted a line or a cylinder packing came out from lack of use. Don't get me wrong, they have their place but on the front of a tractor isn't it.

not trying to take over the thread but in my case the intention is mounting on the back...

I had bought this backhoe for a skid steer last year. Sold SS and kept for my B2650 Kubota with front hydraulics added. Had offered to sell it for $1500 but mostly decided to keep it. I have one, used it and like it which is my input from actual experience but there are some cautions.

I did sell that front Backhoe for around $1300. Later bought a L3901 and bought another one and since traded the L3901 to a MX5400 and still have the front backhoe but have not mounted it to MX5400 yet to test performance. I had some fitment issues with the "New" front backhoe popping off one corner until I added a piece of steel to the catch point to make it tight enough to keep it on the SSQA attaching plates. Will need to hook it to MX and see how well it does.

I've got an m5-111 and honestly think a fixed arm skid steer loader backhoe like this might be quite useful to me. I've got the la1854 loader so it's fairly stout.

I think it works for what it is made for but just don't extend the FEL cylinder arms to far like I did on B2650 when I stood the arm almost straight up so I could see better and had the cylinders all the way extended and bent them. Keeping tractor FEL arms down and extending the bucket and curling the front backhoe bucket should work fine on a solid tractor.
