What about kerosene?

I never heard of running a kerosene mix. My tractor reads: "use only low sulfur or ultra low sulfur diesel only".

By the time you get to be our age you will discover a lot of things you have never heard of. LOL Your tractor is a lot newer than most of us have. zman:laughing:

When I was a boy I remember tractors that burnt WOOD.....

Depending on how old you are , that could have been a Steam engine tractor or a little more modern , it could have been a Gasifier fed tractor .

use a mix od diesel and kero every year for winter, it shouldn't hurt a thing.

A question for those who mix kerosene and diesel.

What sort of price difference do you have between kerosene and off-road diesel? I don't buy kerosene, but thought it was more expensive than off-road diesel.

#1 diesel is more expensive than #2 also so my guess is its close to kerosene but I have seen kerosene change prices faster than I can change shirts during cold months.

Yes I would put the old kerosene in my tank and never think twice about it you should be fine. I have been told #1 and kero are very close and basically interchangeable as far as engines are concerned.

Fwtw I even burn ulsd in my space heaters instead of kero nowadays.

I would probably add some white bottle power service just like I would with any diesel fuel just because.

My owners manual for my 1996 Dodge Cummins diesel listed kerosene as an acceptable fuel although I never used it. Number 2 diesel is thicker than number 1 diesel and kerosene and will do more work per gallon. I have also read of truck drivers mixing kerosene with diesel fuel to prevent gelling in very cold weather.
