its not the plastic guard peice, its a plastic piece that fits over some metal piece that connects to the pto of the tractor. ill see if i can get a picture of it.

after a definition like that, we need a picture

Does this piece you are talking about have one small phillips head screw in it? If so, remove the screw and twist the plastic pieces and the plastic guard will slip down so you can see the collar on the pto shaft. That is what is on my lx5. JC

Is the "plastic piece" like a collar around the PTO nearest the tractor ... if so, this is a collar that you twist counter clockwise as you face the tractor and it will release the pin allowing the shaft to slide off!
