Late '60s 530 Case TLB. I have taken the injector pump off years ago, but something is different now. I can pull the pump all the way back until it hits a fuel filter bracket, but it is still on the shaft at the front. It seems like the shaft has somehow partially came out. Honestly, I have not clue. I would appreciate any information.

And for timing I have heard some engines did not set with #1 TDC, they may use another cylinder at TDC. Anyone know if the 530 Case is set according to #1?

I am no mechanic at all!!! Nor do I want to be. But my father has owned this backhoe over 40 years and he wants to get it going again, mostly sentimental. I'm trying. I've searched and read. From what I can tell it should not be hard to time (never figured getting the pump off would be hard). Dot to dot. Line to line. #1 TDC compression. Piece of cake. I just need to figure out how to turn the oven on.

Advice is great, but you are welcome to stop by and turn a wrench. :)

Not being there it's hard to tell but looks like oil filler tube needs to come off hope you set engine a tdc before you pulled pump off.

Unfortunately the timing is off. My dad had someone take the old pump off to be rebuilt and they didn't set the engine to TDC. So I'm pulling this rebuilt pump off in an attempt to set the timing. Do you know if the 530 Case is set using #1 at TDC? I've heard some use other cylinders.

Even though the original pump was taken off without the engine being set, the information I have read on the internet doesn't sound like it is hard to time. TDC, align dots on shaft, align marks in pump window, and will that have it close? I guess then go to the marks on the flywheel to find 8 degrees before TDC? I could barely see the marks yesterday but I didn't recognize any one mark being different than the others. It was about 2"s and a mark every 1/16" or so. I looked at it a few years back and I think I do recall one mark different. Maybe longer or something. If I do find a different mark, does that indicate TDC or the 8 degrees before TDC?

BTW, I hear it's a beautiful drive up from N. Central FL on such a pretty day. :drink:
