What Are The Rules on Christmas Music?

I don't like popular Christmas music. Sometimes I can take some I haven't heard to much or some Christmas hymns (if that is what they are called). For the most part I don't listen to it unless someone else puts it on. What I do like about this time of the year is when we celebrate winter solstice with only candles(no electric lights), pie, eggnog and some quiet background music. :drool: :drool: :drool: :drool:

I don't like the pop stuff either. When I say I play Christmas music, I'm talking about the good old nostalgic stuff like the hymns and stuff like "Sleigh Ride", "Winter Wonderland" and "Silver Bells". It really depends on who's performing, too. I bear no ill against anyone who likes Barbara Streisand, but I can't stand her music. The closest I come to anything popular is Harry Connick Jr., and even some of his stuff gets skipped half the time when it comes up on the playlist.

I've had a lot of fun performing during Christmas time too. I quit the orchestra because it was taking up too much of my time. Collin Raye is coming up, and it's killing me to not be playing for him again. I am starting a community band, though. I hope that fills some of the void.

I think it's just cheesey when stores try capitolizing on Christmas too early. I play the music because I like to hear it. Stores put up the Christmas stuff early because they're trying to trick me into buying something I wouldn't otherwise buy.

I get immune to it, but thats only after working in retail as a 3rd job for 5 years. It would really depress some people. Once the xmas music came out so did the rudeness. I loved the extra pay check but whew took a lot of patience with people being rude.

Speaking of music in general I do get annoyed at overly loud music in stores and even gas stations blaring out of speakers in the pump...some of us are stuck on conference calls while on the go and it gets to be a problem when one can't hear the call

Same here. Love Christmas and Christmas music...at Christmas time.

I was in Lowe's about two weeks ago, and they were putting up their Christmas trees for display. Before Halloween, even. That ain't right.

And Lowe's sure isn't the only one. A few days ago, I went to Walmart for some birdseed that's kept in the garden section of the store. That whole section, except for some shelves on 2 walls was Christmas trees and Christmas decorations.

As for Christmas music, I figure the first of December is early enough for me.

A little good Christmas music after Thanksgiving is fine, but not before. And once 'Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer' comes on, the radio is OFF until December 26. I have a good size collection of Christmas music on disc to listen to.

eXmass music is annoying at the minimum. They play it everywhere and I always feel for shop's clerks cause they need to listen to that crap all the time.

And when you think it can't get any worse, they invent chipmunks carolling or whatever the crap it is - and that's like chinese torture.
