What are these brackets called ?

I finished putting the deck & back onto the Carry All frame today and would like to put sides on it. I spotted the brackets shown in the picture from this forum but can't find them on the net.

Probably because I don't know what they are called. I've searched "square tube interlocking bracket" without success. I realize I could just by the 2x4 steel brackets but would prefer those shown.

Any ideas on what they're called ?

Are you talking about stake pockets. Your pic isn't verry good. It doesn't get much bigger when you click on it

Nope . The 2x4 brackets I mentioned are stake pockets. Those shown in the picture appear to be square metal tube where they have a male section that inserts into the interior of the adjacent piece.

I made the picture a little bigger.

Does seem to be something going on there with those stakes, but very hard to imagine what it is.

Do you think the lower parts are fixed to the frame, and the upper ends slide into the lower part?

Did a search on "telescoping tubing" and it might be what you are looking for. ??

i doubt you'd find those anywhere except the guy's garage that made them, if he made extras. looks custom fab to me. what thread did you find that picture in?

SARG- see if you can locate a place that specializes in trailer stuff; they often have all sorts of trailer hardware, including hardware for trailer sides. Around here we have a place called "Lucky's Trailers Sales."

They do have a website:
"Need Parts? We have them in stock and will deliver to all of Vermont, parts of New York, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. We have parts for all makes and models of trailers."

I picked up some interlocking corners for my little trailer's sides from them. Couln't find them anywhere else.


You might even find similar items at a TSC store....

You could try using cut pieces of top rail from cyclone fencing. The sections slide into one another as the fence goes along. You can buy the pipe at the big box stores. Just an idea if you wanted to fab something yourself.

Hey, I recognize those! You are correct, I custom-made them out of two sizes of steel tube nested together, I think it was one inch on the outside and 3/4 on the inside.

To connect the inner and outer tubes, I drilled a couple of holes in each outer tube and then puddle-welded the two together.

Problem was, they didn't fit as tight as I wanted, so I wound up welding some thin washers on the smaller tubes to take up some of the slack. Maybe you can find sizes that fit together better. Here is a pic of the "nesting" end of the tube.

I have a thing against bolts sticking out to snag stuff, so I recessed them within the tubes. To attach the stakes to the wood, I drilled a 1/4 inch hole all the way through both sides and then enlarged the outer one to 5/8 so I could get the nut on the carriage bolt.
