This morning on further inspection. It looks like 5 of the 6 holes in the transmission housing are cracked out , and all 6 holes had helicoil thread replacements. It looks like one of the holes was welded up some what at one time. I'm not sure what I am going to do next on this. Any ideas?

Before you go further with fixing the damaged holes, strip the paint, oil and dirt off the housing. Especially around the back and axle mounting points. Check for any other stress cracks or distortion. Whatever broke the 3pt put a great deal of stress on the differential housing and axles. If you don't find any damage there then fixing the holes will be worth the money and effort. If you find more damage, it might be wise to replace the rear end as a whole.

Wow. Is there enough meat in the casting to drill down and install studs twice as deep as the original bolts?

Also, were those helicoils still secure or were they working loose?

I'm still trying to figure out where the metal in the side went? Even if you pushed it back up to where it should be, there is a hole in the side.

Looks like whatever happened it kept on happening.

I cant imagine the hydraulics are anywhere near powerful enough to self destruct like that there must have been some serious leverage going on like he used the 3pt with a long cherry picker or something heck I don't know.

I wouldn't have thought so either but I remember reading about ampa splitting his control valve when he deadheaded the pump. Would have thought the shaft key would have broken on the pump first.

Maybe the 3pt was up and blocked off with the shut off valve and too much weight hung off the arms. Can't tell from the photos if the arms are bent any. Didn't think to ask if the arms move freely.

We'll never know what caused it.

But I expect replacing the upper assembly and bolting it down with secure helicoils, or deeper studs, will mean it never happens again.

It looks like part of the problem now is that the first repair merely patched the hydraulic piston housing but didn't restore it's ability to carry weight. That assembly should have been replaced at that point.

Bowinelk I don't think you could ever apply enough stress to break that again after you put a new upper assembly on there. Whatever broke it the first time was extraordinary.

They were working loose and pulling out.

It looks like part of the problem now is that the first repair merely patched the hydraulic piston housing but didn't restore it's ability to carry weight. That assembly should have been replaced at that point.

I should have gotten pictures, I will get some tomorrow, there was a 5/8 steel plate bolted on the back of the tractor to brace the valve housing, And the center mounts for the 3pt were welded to that. which took some of the weight off the housing it self.
