What could have broke this? 3 pt lift housing

Opposite the date, at the top of each post. This is # 30.

Thanks Norm, I was all confused, I thought it was in another thread from a way back when. Anyway, I am agreeing with Spyderlk. A backhoe bounce could be a very likely thing to do it. I have an old 5' FMC mower which is really to heavy for my little 2002d. I have been guilty of bouncing down the road with it. Hopefully, I'll remember this post from now on.

Good possibility on the B/H, however no on the implement issue. I have experienced failure from a heavy implement. See post #24.larry

Yes, and even though that failure was probably contributed to by the longer arm extenders, thanks for reminding me that there is always a breaking point. For instance, it is pretty important to adjust the drop speed valve before lifting any heavy 3pt implement. Doing that is sort of basic to tractor operation, but neglecting to do it could break just about any 3pt. For that matter, so could simply backing the tractor into a tree.

I think he was more concerned about what to do to fix his and also if this is a normal problem with the YM240?

I think the answer to the first part might be a new axle housing but first think is to look at what you have with an eye to re-tapping or some tig welding, and to think of some to change the bolt holes into stud mounts. I mean, give it a try. It can't be worst than it is. And just might work.

The answer to the second part is no. No part of the 3pt is a weak point on Yanmars nor a common repair. In fact the whole 3 pt is the strongest part on most any make of tractor. I still believe that in normal use nobody has to worry about breaking their 3pt.

Well I hobbled it back together. I used a 1/2 steel plate, I drilled and tapped the 6 main mounting holes out to bolt the new housing to. Then I marked the meatier areas on the transmission housing and where i wanted to drill tap. I counter sank these corresponding holes on the adapter plate. It all worked great except the first hole I started to tap. The Chinese made tap broke off. But I went and got a better one, and the rest tapped great. I end up heating the broken tap up to bust it out. Any way its back together and works great so far. I forgot to get picture of finished product yet.

Now that is fixing something and not replacing it.. Very nice work... most of todays techs just replace everything..Thus dont have the skill to fix something...
