What did you buy this week?

A Tork 1101B mechanical timer from Home Depot. Simple swap for a unit that went bad. Probably should have bought a replacement motor unit, or just the entire module. Cost difference between the module and entire unit was negligible however. The unit switches my detached garage lights on-off.
I switched from the mechanical timers to digital years ago. The digital are far superior in ability to vary run times. I have 4 on my property. Only thing i have to do is remember to check lithium batteries every few years. Also, remembers time during power outage…no pesky resetting dial. Oh, and automatic DST.

I have a confession:
I have three Intermatic T101 timers. Each in a different shed used for holiday decorations. One we put a lot of halloween decorations down driveway and it's wired to an outdoor socket. I set it on at 7pm, off at midnight. It would run up to 7pm then stop! I lubed everything and it takes 20 minutes to fully flip the switch which it wouldn't complete, so I caller Intermatic. Tech said trippers wear out but I thought of that replacing them. He was baffled saying I had tried everything so order T101M which is "the guts"...entire mechanism.
That arrived Saturday! So glad it was fixed...except at 7pm it would stop!

That's when I noticed the terminals "line" and "load"...
.
.
.
Be sure they're not reversed.

I had one of those on my pool for a while. Then I found a 7 day version. I used that for about 20 years. Last year I put in a more modern timer that has a built in on/off/auto switch. I like it a lot more.

Ditto. Except the ones I use either plug into an outlet or replace a powered light switch. No batteries.

Three big advantages:
  • You can have almost unlimited schedules
  • You can remotely over-ride and turn on/off at will
  • Your schedules can include variables such as X minutes before/after sunrise/sunset
I have two different brands - Kasa and Hubspace. Both work excelently.

The caveat with such is that they need wifi access to make changes. Once programmed, they don't.

I just received the MechMaxx stump grinder I ordered. I had tractor ready with pallet forks on to unload it, now I'm putting it together.
It came with tools even and it's packed in a steel frame.

I love stuff that's packed in scrap metal. Keep us posted.

Save the bottom of the crate to make a dolly for the grinder.
