Learning all about your tractor is definitely important seat time! Great looking unit! That grapple looks really big! Congratulations and have fun!

Took advantage of the mild winter we’re having in Maine and got to work stumping the area where I plan to build a small barn for the tractor and tools.

I’m very happy with how well the BH will break through roots. Also, very impressed with the sturdiness of the thumb. IMG_7809.JPGIMG_7805.JPG

The thumb looks great to use! It is nice that the factory one is as wide as it is. Helps to grab on to bigger stuff!

Got the tooth bar and a chainsaw holder mounted. It’s a Titan tooth bar and I suppose you get what you pay for. It is heavy duty (over 100 lbs) but it was too wide to fit in the bucket. People had said they needed to do some grinding and hammering to make them fit but this was an inch too wide. Had to have a buddy cut a tooth off, cut off an inch of the flat stock then weld it back together. Pain in the ***, but it should work well and I think will hold up to abuse now that it’s dialed in.

Also got the chainsaw holster mounted up. I bought the Bannon off Amazon for $33 and did a few easy modifications to make it work. I made a small backing plate that goes between the loader arm and the frame. I tapped two holes into it and drilled corresponding holes on the saw holder. The 1” bar stock just barely fits in there and there wasn’t a lot of material so had to go with 1/4” hardware. A few 1/4 bushings to keep the screws off the frame and a rubber stopper on the bottom to keep the holder from bouncing and fatiguing the metal. Quick coat of paint and it’s ready for duty. Not sure how the 1/4” hardware will take the bouncing but it will fail on the backplate if it does, so it’s easy to rebuild if I need to.
Also, it’s made to run without the plastic scabbard and had hard foam to keep the bar in place, but I plan to keep the scabbard in there for added protection. The big knobs on the front allow it to be fully adjustable depending on size.

PS, I found a can of Sail Blue Rustoleum at an odd lot sale for $1.50 and figured I couldn’t lose for that price. Wasn’t sure how it would match. It isn’t exact if you look close, but it’s **** close for $1.50.

The tooth bar and saw holder look great! The sail blue color is really close, could not beat it for that price! If you want a near perfect match, the Rustoleum “ safety blue” is actually a closer match. Sometimes it is hard to find. I know HD sells it, I bought a six pack at $4.99 can to paint the canopy. Only used 2 cans..... I sprayed it on some scratches on the BH.... you cannot see where it was done without looking in the glare...
